Eh… the 720p size is more appropriate for the PT edits due to a fair amount of DVD footage used. However, I could go ahead and encode the same smaller 1080p form factor if it’s wanted.

Yes, please!

Can’t do that, because I’d like a ‘planetary celebration’ with Shaw, and don’t want another version or two to track and worry about when it’s a change I have no interest in. Again, all the resources are there to make that tweak for whomever would like to.

I wonder if it’s worth someone creating (and pinning?) a little video tutorial on how to make small personal tweaks to scenes. Because you’re quite right, these kinds of things are super easy, but most people probably don’t think that. And it would take the pressure off editors to create multiple versions, letting them release alternate versions of single scenes, AND upskilling the consumer community while we were at it.

I did this myself a while back, integrating shamook’s Luke into my last episode of Mando season one.

I know how to do it, the problem is that my specific video editing software creates audio pops whenever you change out footage. Unless I’m doing something wrong.

Hal, thanks a bunch for doing the other smaller 1080p encodes. You are the Saint of Generous Deeds and Miraculous Edits!

Hopefully the upcoming Obi-Wan series and its behind-the-scenes materials, or the Ahsoka show after that, will grant us something usable for a better ROTJ ghost. It’s also fairly easy to age people up with FaceApp/EBSynth so it could finally be age correct, rather than too young/old.

I still prefer Sebastian Shaw as Anakin as a Force ghost, no matter which movie it is.

A Shaw ghost version of the TROS Ascendant ending would be a nice thing to have, for the IV-IX part of the fandom.

I think a good version of the Hayden ghost would be a nice thing to have in the bucket of resources (along with TROS Shaw), but it’d be treated as optional like the “improved” Temura Fett lines or Adywan’s Emperor hologram.

I’m curious if anyone is going to request having Vader’s eyebrows back.

Why? The lack of eyebrows makes more sense. Even in just the context of the OT Vader was always supposed to have gotten a lava bath.

I agree, but there may be some people who prefer the eyebrows.

I gotta be honest, I’m not really a fan of the color grading on the 4K release, especially of The Empire Strikes Back.

I know people have done color corrections and such, but I’d like to see someone take the 4K remasters, and completely color grade them so the colors look proper. I think Adywan’s color grading looks terrific, as it looks clear to see, colorful in the right places it should be, yet not too over saturated.

A New Hope looks the best of the three, though a little too dull. The Empire Strikes Back never looked good color wise in 4K, and Return of the Jedi, while it wasn’t transferred out of focus like the 2004/2011 remaster, it still looks too dark and desaturated. I remember how bright and colorful the Sail Barge Assault originally looked.

Also, something that has rarely been said about the 4K remasters is the film grain, and that’s because there really isn’t any. It’s the same issue the 2011 Blu-rays of the Prequels had, where it looks too soft looking.

Adywan did a good job removing Yavin IV from the SE shot of the fighters approaching the Death Star. You should check it out, and possibly use it in the next version of ANH.

I think Hal’s said that continuity errors don’t bother him if they were in the film originally. Doesn’t the pre-SE shot have Yavin IV in it too or am I misremembering?

That is true. One of the things that makes Adywan’s work so impressive is how he has really payed attention to the tiniest details. There are some creative changes he’s made that I disagree with, but overall, an incredible piece of work.

On a side note, I’d like to know how Mos Eisley is going. I don’t know what the plan is, but I could pitch my own scenario for how it plays out.

I’d love to use Adywan’s version of that X-Wing shot, make no mistake.

And I’m open to ideas about Mos Eisley, although I like what’s in my current version. It’ll depend on what Dat_SW_Guy presents to work with, too.
