I miss when life had a sense of mystery. Now I feel like I know everything (obviously not literally) and whatever I don’t know is just a quick search away. There’s something different about being a kid. The world seems wider and brighter. Now it feels so small and dark.
I feel you. I find the mysteries of my faith to some extent preserve that sense of mystery for me, but it’s still not the same as when the whole world seemed that way. That shift is one of the toughest parts of growing up, I think.

Think of it this way, there will always be things that are mysterious and that we just don’t know. Prime example is that we will never know what happened to the Mayans.

Never say never. Nobody thought they would stumble into lost media in Romanian salt mines but it happened. We didn’t always know the cause of the dinosaurs’ extinction either. I think using the fate of the Maya as an example of something we’ll never known is questionable.

The point I’m trying to make is that there will always be things that we don’t understand or see the whole of. Mysteries will always exist.

There are layers to reality that we can never experience directly. Quite a bit of the world is mysterious if you look at it from a certain perspective, even if a lot is known about it.

You’re right, I believe in what I’ve been told is demonstrably true as opposed to anecdotally true.

I just don’t know what I’m supposed to do with my life anymore. I’m only 25 and I feel like my life is falling apart. I almost died 3 times this year due to complications of my heart disease, I keep gaining weight, I’m having trouble taking care of myself, I have nightmares every time I sleep, and I’ve been fighting with my best friend all year. I just want to hide in my room and listen to sad music until I fall asleep.

i thought the new year would re-energize me with a happy outlook on life. so far, nothing has changed since my last post. if anything, i’m even more paranoid then i was before. why does it feel like everything i say or do is wrong? its like no matter what i do, people still hate me. i dont know what the world wants from me. what is my purpose? why am i here?
I don’t know if the world wants anything from you. I believe that God does, though. The only way to find meaning is to find truth and conform your life to it. If (a) life is inherently meaningless or (b) you haven’t found the meaning, it’s hard to be happy.
I hope you’re doing OK. Feel free to PM me if you want someone to talk to. I promise my goal isn’t to just force my religion on you. I bring faith into it because I genuinely believe that that’s what will help you.
I have had these feelings on and off throughout my life . At times it was due to situational depression . Something a friend said to me years ago actually helped a bit , he said , " maybe it’s not you that’s fucked up ,maybe it’s the world . " another thing that has helped me in recent years is that 5 years ago , I suffered from a severe systemic infection and lost my lower right lobe of my right lung to it , as well as being diagnosed with type 2 adult onset diabetes . I almost died and it took me a year to recover . It was hard to find motivation to do anything for a bit , I knew I had to do what exercise I could to get my strength and blood sugar under control and found the solution in music …uplifting , motivational music . I started out by just walking for 15 minutes at a time and within a few months I could do a full aerobic work out and use light dumbells . I would suggest talking to your doctor about what kind of exercise you can do …it takes a while to get going as well as a bit to feel the results ,but it gives one a healthy dose of endorphins which can vastly improve ones mood and outlook . I wouldn’t go that far, but given how much you’ve been posting about your personal issues recently, it seems like you have a strong desire for companionship and validation. That’s not a problem, everyone has that desire to some degree. But I would recommend being more forward-going and strong-willed when it comes to your personal life. If you just keep stewing in your own emotions, nothing good will come of that. But if you assert yourself and make strong efforts to find the validation you seek, I’m sure you’ll find it eventually.

I had the same thing when I worked at a pizza place. I was constantly told I was too slow at the dishes, and never got faster. I guess I’m just careful and thorough, and it’s hard for me to maintain speed in a repetitive task like that we’re I’m likely to drift off.
