Also in ANH you had Vader fly away into space on his TIE so it could be gleaned it had a hyperdrive from that scene alone (I guess that scene is the reason it cannonically has a hyperdrive).

I suppose if anyone knows where Vader’s TIE is located on the Death Star wreckage it’d be Kylo Ren, but it wasn’t seen or mentioned past A New Hope.

We also see Vader arrive on the Second Death Star in a shuttle, no indication that his custom TIE is there at all. Bringing it back for this seems highly coincidental, much more suited for the unedited sequel trilogy than the HAL version.

I just installed toadies into positions of overseeing the poll, so we might be able to give it a repeat.
I’ll be checking IDs to make sure you don’t want to vote for the TIE, though.

My stance on revising fan edits.

The nostalgic imagery of Vader’s TIE right next to Luke’s X-wing feels more like the kind of thing they would’ve done for real for this particular movie.

I guess you could say it TIEs everything together… sorry.

That’s why I voted for the TIE as well. The visual silhouette (and the symbolism) of an X-Wing and a TIE being next to each other means more to the overall saga I think than the Imperial Shuttle does. Plus, there’s something fitting about Vader flying the TIE-whatever (Interceptor?) in the first Star Wars movie, and Ben flying the same type of ship in the last.

“It’s like poetry, it rhymes.”

Mind you, I don’t necessarily think it’s the exact same ship, just the same model. And in that respect, I think different models of TIEs would be more readily available on the Death Star than an Imperial Shuttle would be, since those always seemed to be reserved for the highest ranking officials. So there’s story justifications and lore justifications.

Screw it. Pop the Titanic back in and be done with it, Hal.

To me I find it harder to believe a shuttle could be found in immaculate condition with those huge wings and fin. I can headcannon that Vader’s personal TIE could’ve been stored in a more secure location which allowed it to survive the explosion (it’s still hard to suspend my disbelief on this but it’s better than nothing).

Also we see Kylo fly on TIEs a bunch in this movie, we see him go through two (now distinct!) TIEs, so it makes more sense to have Ben’s journey to Exegol be on a third and final TIE + the nostalgic imagery of Vader’s TIE right next to Luke’s X-wing feels more like the kind of thing they would’ve done for real for this particular movie.

I guess you could say it TIEs everything togehter… sorry.

I hate to say it, Hal, but I agree with Burbin too.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

It needed more Anakin in general, lol. Since, ya know, the saga is supposed to be about him.

Would rather hear one of the album versions of Lapti Nek.

There’s nothing to suggest that Vader is the only person with that particular model. The Inquisitors all fly Advanced TIEs as well.

The whole TIEs don’t have hyper drives thing is something that the OT put as a flaw in the first place. How would a rebel group have access to military tech equipment in their fighter craft that’s more advanced than the state of the art, well equipped empire. That just doesn’t make sense in the first place.

Also, I don’t think it’s too difficult for headcanon to simply justify that the sequel trilogy takes place 30 years post Rotj.one would think the FO would have already upgraded their fighters by then to have hyperdrive capability.

At first I preferred the tie advanced, over time now I prefer the shuttle lol. I think visually it fills up the frame better, but that’s just me

I don’t see the problem with having a few dozen highly equipped fighters going against numberless waves of cannon-fodder, just as Rebel soldiers tend to outmatch Stormtroopers one-to-one but are quickly overwhelmed by numbers. That seems very Empire to me. It would be stranger if TIEs had hyperdrives, honestly.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Perhaps its the real life in me, its like i imagine the viet cong having access to nuclear capable fighter jets or small para/military groups get their hands on something more advanced than the US or USSR back in the day. something like that would never happen. but i suppose thats why its fiction.

I agree. At the end of the day, either decision is fine for me. There are reasons that can be made for either and at the end of it all, it’s just a matter of personal preference.

Inquisitors pilot prototype Tie Advances…

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Honestly I’m just sitting here reading this thinking “Both decisions are fine and I just admire the effort it took to mask out a whole ship and fit it in such a way that it looks like it just has always been there in the original movie.”.

I know they’re a different model of TIE Advanced, the point is that non-standard TIEs are seen with people other than Vader.

I know people on here have been helping Hal out with this edit and initially I did vote for Vader’s Tie but at the end of the day this is Hal’s edit and I’m happy with whatever he chooses to put in, so I would just go with what you feel is the right choice Hal👍.
