Yeah I agree I adore the new explosion, Vader’s lights and the new lightsaber. Perfection.

And the comparison just made me realize how pink the Blu-Ray is. I never noticed before but it looks like the whole thing had a pink filter put over it, it’s so weird.

So smooth and wonderful! Amazing with the lightsaber transitions. Perfect!

I love how the character of the original saber effects still comes through and isn’t totally overwritten.

Definitely. It feels more “alive” than other saber repaints.

Overall, I’m very impressed with your work, Ady!

Hey Ady, I picked up something. In the wide shot just before remote shoots Luke to the leg, R2’s head wobbles and pops upwards slightly. Kenny probably was in the bucket in that shot too. Maybe you want to get rid of it, it’s kind of a “once you see it…” deal. 😉

On the one hand, take your time and make it right Addy,

On the other hand … I want it now! lol.

Keep it up, it’s looking so good and I already love your ESB:R which is my personal definitive edition of it that film. This will be the next.

Always looking forward to and excited to seeing all of your updates, Ady! Excellent work in the recent video!

There is something I am hoping to bring up, though, and it’s regarding that first shot with Tarkin. I love how in the original it is an artistic shot with a clear view of Alderaan - it’s aesthetically pleasing even if inaccurate. Now, with the changes that were made here - which I do understand is for continuity - the unfortunate matter is (in my humble opinion) too much of Alderaan is obscured by control panels which, visually, isn’t nearly as striking of a shot as the original. So an idea to help this could be: How about shifting the right-side technician and his panels slightly over to the right? Just enough so the audience can always see Alderaan in its entirety. Or, would it be easier and better to make Alderaan appear larger (as large as the original and make it consistent from there) so that way it’ll still stand out even if some panels partially get in the way? Or both ideas? If this panel shift were to be made, it should be pointed out there is a similar shot later during the battle of Yavin when Tarkin says “You may fire when ready”, however, I don’t think a change to the panels there has to be necessary (even for continuity - but can be anyway if wanted). I don’t know if I’m the only one who thinks this, but just wanted to share anyway 😃

After seeing the Alderaan Destruction Clip, I became more interested in trying to view the 1080p Regrade Test. Does anyone have it? (I can’t find it…)

Just a little typing in a search engine, like “star wars revisited”
https://swrevisited.wordpress.com/how-to-get-revisited/

That isn’t where you can get that. You can only access the,

4GB SD MP4 of ANH:R (SD), the 1080p 12GB MP4 of ESB:R (w/ UserNet Link and the BareBones DVD File)

Maybe I should be more specific. I’m talking about the “Color Corrected A New Hope (2011)” “The 26GB 1080p Regrade.” “Reminder that this is NOT A New Hope Revisited, just the color-corrected Blu-ray base Revisited will be built on.”

does the reedit of this (planned but not start) in 720P HD version really mean 816 x 1920? bluray size of empire revisited is this I believe. And if I am understanding this right, there is a 816 x 1920 adywan regarded version already (minus the additions)?

The HD version of ANH:R will be 1080p, same as ESB:R & the upcoming ROTJ:R. There is a 1080p regraded version of ANH that i released that used the 2011 Blu-ray as a source

I’ll give some feedback on this one…

The first shot inside the deathstar control room with tarkin facing the screen would be better to remove Alderaan entirely and outer space have a graphic or readouts… The reason being if Alderaan is on the screen why is Leia so surprised when he says “home planet of Alderaan” as if it was not there already. This was meant to be a “reveal” Leia looks stupid. It’s not your fault but it could be better to hear the sound of screen changing then cut to viewscreen with Alderaan in orbit.

Once we see Alderaan out the viewscreen the star field should be going left to right and alderaan planet right to left. This would then look correct and feel like 3D orbit. Try it and you will like that simple fix.

Last point the shot before Tarkin says “I grow tired of asking” you can see camera over shoulder he is mouthing lines. It is held on that shot too long and it is equal to what the music cue is out by. It is the cause of the duff music cue and needs eliminating for time and correction for the correct music cue to be restored. The shot still stays but it’s over running by around 1.5 seconds basically it should cut at the point Peter Cushin starts mouthing lines.

Talking of music cue in the R2-D2 canyon the shot of R2 coming towards camera before he drives down the slope is also to be eliminated entirely from that sequence… Note this shot feels totally disconected from the previous and following shots. This shot should be placed before the shot of the tuskan raiders looking down on the cliff and after Luke and C3PO in the land speeder. You don’t get the entire running time of that shot but it is where it is meant to go and it restores the build up part of the music cue. This shot is actually eliminated in some TV cuts of Star Wars and frankly it’s better without and better with it in the right place.

If you cared to go for restoring the full original cue for the Jawas going to the sandcrawler once R2D2 collapse a few shots need moving about of the Jawas to fit the music properly but once we see the matte shot of the Sandcrawler there needs to be a cut away to say a shot of the moon or sky to fill the music gap and fix the jump cut (passing of time), then it can resume as it is in the final film.

Hope this helps
