New attempt. Lots of clean up done, but it may still need some work, of course.

Random fan editor here, had to look up what the original scene was but if you don’t know it’s edited it’s impossible to tell it was, after all, movies do this kind of ADR/audio manipulation in post all the time and we probably don’t even know because we don’t know where to look for spliced audio. I’d say this is good enough to work

I definitely wouldn’t go that far, sid. Try some headphones. It’s pretty close, though.

Okay I hear “end” needs some work but everything else is good

Have you considered borrowing footage from the Biomes short, HAL?

I’ve not seen the film since it came out and even with headphones I couldn’t tell it was a new line.

I would love to see someone with more skills than I have add some of the biomes film to Eps 4 and 5.

This really is an incredible project. Even if we never finish Luke’s haircut or the crackling saber or the various weekly-debated new ideas, the list of already completed stuff for v2 is astounding, on top of the existing 1.0 already being a surprisingly big improvement over the theatrical.

I can’t wait. Selfishly, I’ve only seen TROS at the cinema the once when it first came out, and have resisted dipping back into it until the completion of this project.

I know we’re all here for the exact same reason so this is hardly a radical thing to say, but- FUCK MAN don’tcha just love the power of fanediting? With this edit and the other sequel tweaks to make them all that much more cohesive and smoothed out, this trilogy might well end up being as enjoyable as it always deserved to be, without that ever-present asterisk of ‘damn, that just didn’t hit right’.

Hey, Sherlock, what about the “I’m a Jedi” line? Are you satisfied with the current version or still need some fixes? Anything we could help?

I never understood exactly why Hal wants, “I’m all the Jedi” to be replaced with, “I am a Jedi.”

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

I think because “I am a Jedi” feels like it’s more appropriate as a conclusion to Rey’s story across the trilogy. She’s got her abandonment as a child and lonely life, her lessons with Luke, and the Kylo Ren and darkside temptations, and declaring herself a Jedi brings all of those together into her taking bold ownership of her position in the galaxy.

That’s why the change is accompanied by other changes to Palpatine’s preceding dialogue, where his lines are reshaped into effectively taunting her that she’s nothing.

As a lesser consideration, another factor is that “All the Sith”/“All the Jedi” feels a bit like it’s a cool thing to say but doesn’t quite hold up to scrutiny, and like she’s ONLY (or mainly) strong in the moment because she’s channeling all of the Jedi. It’s kind a comparison between a cool statement in the moment versus something that better ties together her arc across the trilogy.

Changing it to I am a jedi may be one of the best changes for far in this project IMO.

I think it comes to what consists in being a Sith vs what consists in being a Jedi
Sith are selfish, self-centered, Jedi are humble and selfless.

Agreed.

Plus … it removes the crappy copy of “I am Iron Man” scene from End Game … which is why this moment get’s made fun of and get’s pointed out.

Lastly … breaks lore big time. (which this movie loves to do)

Same here!

I haven’t even watched Version 1.0 for this exact same reason.

I was reasonably satisfied with the latest version (reposted below), although an extra set of ears would definitely be appreciated! Especially since it’s been a little while, and we’ll be able to listen to it fresh.

Did a little more smoothing out on “I” and “am a.” Is it any better?

Also, maybe I’ve watched this clip too many times, but what if Palps says, “I am all the Sith. You are nothing. A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me.” Sade, you’re the expert - did we try it that way already? Would it make any significant difference to the scene?

Hell if I know.

I will also say that I know CaptainFaraday was trying to fiddle with it as well; but I’m not sure if he was able to make any more progress since he and I last spoke.

One thing that’s always erked me was the over the top heavy breathing.

“I… heh. heh. heh… I’m a Jedi.”

I know it’s nitpicky but I think it would make she scene a little more serious if they weren’t as pronounced in the film as they are now.

DZ, I did add one pant to cover up the removal of “[And] I’m,” so if that one specifically feels out of place I can definitely go in and change or remove it. If you’re worried about the panting throughout though…I dunno, would it be weird to see her breathing so heavily, if the sound was much softer? Because there’s no way to hide the fact that she definitely is breathing hard.

You’re going to hate a minor Star Wars character called Darth Vader if you’re not a fan of heavy breathing 😄

She’s fighting an immortal space wizard after sustained physical exertion. It’s be far more out of place if she wasn’t breathing heavily. Sure, it breaks the flow of her line a bit, but it’s be ridiculous to remove it considering the circumstances.
