Godzilla Vs Kong. not a very good kaiju movie and the story was non existent. The human characters were just kind of there, you could have easily taken them out of the movie and had Kong and Gojira slugging it out for 2 hours. The rest of the film was like watching a two hour video game. The worst of the bunch of new films 2 out of 4 stars.

Jaws 3D- it’s a so bad, it’s hilarious film with laughable effects, a ridiculous storyline set at SeaWorld, and an underwhelming score compared to the first two Jaws films.

The film Cruella is a fantastic auteursh art film that truly describes the tragic depths that unfortunately create villains! An amazing inclusion of a positive look at neur-diversity. A masterpiece in the midst of what was a cinematic pause for Disney’s live action division. A must see.

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

I always wanted to see Jaws III 3D just for kicks but i could never get a hold of the VHD, a player and the equipment. I’m only seen the standard 35mm version.

The Blu-Ray includes a hidden 3D option.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019) dir. Céline Sciamma

With Portrait, you can tell that Sciamma has mastered the philosophy of “less is more”. Minimal characters, minimal locations, minimal score. I tend to struggle maintaining my attention with scoreless films, but this movie captivated me from beginning to end. Every pause, breath, and glance these characters make feels both natural, yet meticulously thought-out by Sciamma. There’s a lot to learn (and feel) from this film. It is on Hulu, so if you have a subscription I would certainly recommend this to anyone in the mood for love.

The Clone Wars - Movie

I hadn’t seen it in years but I decided to buy it as I found a real good deal on it. It’s not nearly as bad as its reputation leads one to believe. I really enjoyed it and if I’m honest it’s the most fun I’ve had watching Star Wars in a long time. It’s not perfect as it’s a bit weirdly paced in the beginning and has a couple of weird aspects but once it gets going it’s a real treat and fun with some good wisdom sprinkled in. At the end of the day that’s all I could’ve asked for and it delivered.

I definitely want to watch the parts of the series I’ve not seen yet by continuing my quest in watching what is the last remaining stories George told in a galaxy far, far, away and beyond for that matter…

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

The films Mission Impossible 2 and 3 are interesting looks at both the direction that early 2000s cinema was in, and a nice look into the early career of Tom Cruise.

Over the years I’ve come to notice that many view M:I2 as the weakest entry in the series. Why?

For me the first two M:I movies are the best, 3 for me was the weakest and GP, RN and Fallout are just fine.

I think Fallout is the best. Mission Impossible to me is a weird franchise where the films have actually started to get better each time.

The film In The Heights is an interesting story about how dreams always find a way through patience.

tonight I watched Raiders Of The Lost Ark on VHS , in honor of the 40th anniversary this weekend , and then I watched Batman Returns on VHS . My sound system at home is very unconventional …I currently have a 4head HI-FI stereo VCR hooked up to 2 CRT TVs , a 19 inch ,which is hooked up through coaxial and a 13 inch tv/vcr combo hooked up through rca jacks . I have computer speakers hooked up to the smaller tv through the headphone jack and from that , I am running a male to male aux cable to a Sony boombox with a bass reflex sound system . The 19 inch tv has a 2.0 sound bar hooked up to it and is sitting on a desk below the smaller tv .

Rian Johnson’s The Brothers Bloom:

It was mostly pretty good. It definitely had a weirdness and goofiness to it but also had some good heartfelt moments. I definitely think it’s a film you have to see a second time to pick up on the nuances of the story.

It is also the first Disney film to not require a man to save the day.

Alice in Wonderland, Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, Brave, and Frozen would all like a word.

Stitch and Mushu are male and yet they helped out their female protagonist friends, respectively.

Batman The Long Halloween Part One is a fantastic start of an adaptation of the critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same name minus the part. A must see for comic and Batman fans.

I rewatched Scott Pilgrim with my dad the other day. I’d seen it once a year or two ago and it was just as good as I remembered it. Really gotta read the comics. My dad had never seen it but has now seen it at least three or four times because that’s how he enjoys movies I guess.

Just watched Shazam! It was pretty good, if a little ordinary.

I really enjoyed Shazam! It was a fun-for-all-ages type of movie which you don’t see much of these days.

For all the criticism the DCEU gets, I for one appreciate that each movie is so different from the other. Snyder’s mythological take on superheroes, Wonder Woman’s earnestness, Suicide Squad’s nihilistic humour (I really liked it but also hope the Ayer cut sees the light of day), Aquaman’s over-the-top blockbuster insanity, which contrasts with the MCU’s sameness, and as the saying goes, variety is the spice of life.

Agreed. I think that’s what turned me off Marvel films. They all look and feel the same.

Raiders of the Lost Ark. Fantastic serial style adventure. Loved all the scenes between Marion and Indy. And Indy and Sallah. I also like Marcus Brody in this film but not in Last Crusade.

I also watched Kingdom of the Crystal Skull not as bad as i remember, but also not good either. I don’t think Mutt is all that bad, but Mac is an absolutely worthless character. John Hurt is entirely wasted as Oxley. Spalko is an incompetent villain and isn’t scary at all.

The whole aliens plot is just bizarre and half baked. Its not entirely worthless i like Indy and Marion being reunited in the movie and i like the ending when they get married. Harrison is fantastic and you really believe he is Indiana Jones. You have belief in the character because of him, but the cgi and ridiculous over the top stuff in the jungle chase almost takes you out of the movie that whole part falls flat.
