The All-Purpose Pokemon Thread

What is says on the tin.

A client of mine I recently took on claims to have caught all of them, and transferred them over so they alllll live on the same save file.

You know I just had One-Winged Angel going through my head but for some reason I changed the word Sephiroth to Bibarel.

I don’t know what any of that means.

Sorry, just what was running through my head at the time.

I just use Eevee when a recipe calls for all-purpose Pokemon, I thought everyone did that.

I always ended up with a Raichu on my team. I like that little guy.

Me too. Had him for Kanto. I try to always pokemon of that game’s generation.

My teams so far have been:

FR/LG: Charizard, Raichu, Vileplume, Lapras, Shiny Pidgeotto, Mew, and Sandslash, although tbh, Sandslash kinda sucked.

HG/SS: Typhlosion, Ampharos, Togekiss, Mismagius, Corsola, Donphan.

I’ve only encountered one legitimate shiny in the games, and I remember it still. Was probably like 10, catching a shiny Machop in Gold.

I believe it was shortly before my game stopped being able to maintain a save file. lol

Okay, well I got a shiny because the romhack I played had specific “shiny spots”, unbeknownst to me when I started. The romhack was also the reason I got Mew. It’s called Ultraviolet if you’re interested. The music stopped working in the postgame though so I can hardly recommend it. I prefer the approach I took with HG/SS of just using the vanilla game with whatever cheats I need to get version exclusives or 999 rare candies to skip grinding for the Elite Four. Somehow across both games I never got around to catching Mewtwo. I just found out yesterday I still have my HG/SS save lying around so maybe it’s not too late. Gotta do the events too. Celebi and Arceus. As you can probably tell, I play the games emulated because I prefer having a fast-forward button in turn-based RPGs and just general practicality. Don’t feel like playing on my tiny 3DS screens. Then again, too screens on one monitor doesn’t look great, but hey, I’ve got some nifty anti-aliasing filters so that’s cool.

I wouldn’t consider a romhack to be a legitimate shiny, if it modified how it works.

1/8192; it’s super rare and that’s what makes it cool IMHO.

I recently had the idea to set up an automaton on my phone to randomly draw a number from 1 to 8192 every day at 2AM. If it’s one, it sets me a reminder at 6AM to let me know today is a shiny day.

Doesn’t mean anything, and it’d statistically likely be 11 years before it happens, but what a fun thing it’ll be whenever it happens.

Of course not. Me neither. I’m just saying it how it was. I’ve never gotten a legit shiny (besides ones distributed at events and the red gyarados in HG/SS)
