The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released) — Page 400

You’re probably right Hal. I already got in contact with JX so no need for anyone else to. I just want to see what I can do with his audio is all.

For those curious, he took the “e” sound from “me” and placed it on the end of the original “three”. That’s why I thought it sounded different. Not sure why “lesson” doesn’t sound as good as it should but I’ll try some things when I get access.

The biggest issue with adding the lesson 3 audio is the fact there wont be anything to hide any blemishes in sound.

With the Dyad audio for kylo, there was the score and the ship noises that helped take away any remaining issues.

Yeah I think I should clarify again that I don’t think it’s going to work out. I’m just a little confused myself why it doesn’t sound as natural as I thought it would. Mostly going to work on it to answer that for myself, but if for some reason it ends up sounding pretty good I will share it here.

I kinda liked Babu Frik. Is the movie more effective with him not in the final battle?

I agree. The reason Hal removed him though is because in this edit Kijimi is not destroyed, so why should a mechanic who can’t fly a ship alone tag along on this battle?

Personally, I think including him would still work out. Maybe Babu wanted to be present with Zorri when they destroy the Final Order. Doesn’t necessarily mean that his world has been destroyed. And it is a shame that hilarious moment is removed.

Suprised anyone is still thinking about the Luke/puppet idea, I think its a really great way of showing the galaxy’s knowledge of Luke Skywalker and his legacy amongst the masses. Rey refers to him in The Force Awakens like he’s a myth/legend, don’t think we saw much of that, so hearing pilots chanting his name and seeing the youth on Pasanna learning his story/some of his life actions really sells it for me.

Hi Hal 9000 !

I’ve discovered your project of TLJ’Extended Cut a few days ago.

First I would like to say that your work seems incredible !!!
I’ve learned all the changes you and your collaborators have done and I can’t imagine the amount of work and time you have passed to provide that to the SW community !

In any case, thank you for your work !
Cordially,

Nev that is awesome! Beautiful work.

I’m mates with JX, What do you need?

I tried reworking JX’s 'third lesson audio and we talked about it a long time ago, shared it in here and everyone decided against using it.

Oh, wow! It’s amazing how things can turn in the span of a thread. Lol.

Would you happen to still have the link to your reworking?

Alright, back onto “Lesson Three”

https://youtu.be/scU_Zo7dVr0

It’s getting pretty darn close. Anybody have any pointers on what else we could change about the line?

EDIT: ThisIsCreation fixed the line up a bit will try putting that in later. And thanks to JXEditor for the “three”!

I think the line is too close to the confronting fear line, maybe take confronting fear line an move it a second or two forward. we don’t see Luke’s mouth move and it would make it easier to place the line more naturally.

I agree as well, but that’s slightly out of my talents haha.

I tried your new line and it sounds completely natural now. But it does feel a little squished. Needs some space to breath.

Hmm… You know, I’m going to be completely honest. This might not work out for the Rey Palpatine version. JXEDitor’s initial idea was to use the “Lesson Three” line to replace “Because you’re a Palpatine”. Because of that, there was a natural gap in the dialogue where the new line was shuttled in.

Obviously, if there is a way to organically put it in along with the Palpatine line, that would absolutely be swell.

JEDIT:

You know what? We could always replace that “Rey” line with the “Lesson Three” line in the clip you posted Jar Jar. So, it would go:

“Because you’re a Palpatine.”

Rey reacts

Luke sits down and we don’t see his face. “Lesson Three”

“Some things are stronger than blood.”

What do you think?

if someone hear has the 5.1 audio for the entire line it could be done for sure. All it needs is a little push and it would be perfect. id like to hear the newer version you made. I do think we shouldn’t see Luke as he say’s lesson one because his lips dont move.

Could the line be as he’s moving to sit down, before “some things are stronger than blood?” Plenty of room for it there, and that’s really when he gets into “lecture mode.”

Author

Yeah there is a huge gap there. It would fit well over “Rey”. My only concern is that the lessons were originally about the Jedi. At the beginning of his lecture he is talking about things being stronger than blood, which isn’t necessarily about the Jedi. Could work though.

It could be implicitly one lesson. Courage and the righteous duty of the Jedi are stronger than Rey’s “evil blood.” After all, Luke’s got experience there.

I don’t totally think the line needs to be in at all, but if it is I think that’s an okay spot (replacing the “Rey” that’s already clearly added in post).

Yeah, this is how I’m thinking about it.

Did my own slight audio fade out only because the line is so squished into there.

Also Nev, I’m not entirely sure why you feel they are no longer a master/apprentice. She is still being taught by Leia, and if he weren’t dead, he would still be her master.

The original thought was for it to replace “It was fear that kept me here,” to avoid retconning Luke’s arc in the last film. So it would go:

“I was was wrong (to stay here.) [pause] Lesson three: What are you most afraid of?”

So, it’s like the title “Lesson three” opens the entire topic of “facing your fears,” rather than just buttoning up the final moral of the lecture.

The clip is sounding really good, Jar Jar! There’s just a slight pitch thing that I wonder if we could clean up a little more. Could you possibly share the .wav?

And Cinefy, I honestly can’t tell if that’s new content, or from the original film. Looks fantastic!

Did you see the latest one? That includes a fix by Creation. If that’s the one you’re talking about still, I can pass it along to you.

I believe Hal would prefer if it replaced “Rey” instead of “it was fear that kept me here”.

If anybody wants access to the (final?) audio clip, they can play around with placing it in the scene somewhere. I don’t have the means to move Luke’s audio around properly. So shoot me a PM.
