Luke say’s the word lesson pretty quickly in TLJ, i don’t know how it would be added into TROS without it sounding janky.

Any thoughts about the possiblity of changing the lines “weak, like your parents”… to “weak, like your masters”?

We dont have audio of Palpatine saying the word masters like he says the word parents.

Within the context of the movie, leaving it as parents can work for both her biological parents and her Skywalker parents.

No. I believe it would fit in with my proposed idea of having Rey’s parents be bad people who abandoned her because she was a Palpatine and feared of what she’d become while ensuring Palps doesn’t transfer his essence into another Force-sensitive, which f$^!ed up his plans.

Huh, I was always under the impression that Luke actually said “Lesson Three” in that deleted scene. “I was wrong.” lol.

Also, to be 100% honest, I actually remember seeing an edit from somewhere that basically did what I was proposing (i.e. making him have a “Lesson Three” during the ghost scene) I can’t recall where I saw it though (it might even be in the TROS Redux thread, but it may have just been some Reddit thread I once saw). I just thought it could be a cool idea and wanted to bring it up.

I seem to recall seeing that as well, Brother. Unfortunately, I also remember thinking it didn’t sound good enough. Maybe whoever made it just didn’t take the right lines to create it?

Regardless, there are some talented people on here so if one of them wants to take a stab at making Luke say “Lesson Three” I’m sure it would end up sounding better.

EDIT: I’m also willing to experiment a bit and produce a rough draft if that’s needed.

TLJ established that Rey’s parents thought their daughter was worthless, that’s what I meant.

Yeah, but I’d feel bad about adding yet another thing onto someone else’s plate. Lol.

I’m currently scouring the Redux thread, trying to find the example (if it’s even in there). Hopefully, it’s not from someone who’s been banned or has completely ghosted the forum and is willing to maybe take another crack at it!

Alright did a little bit of testing.

Luke saying “lesson” in “lesson two” sounds perfect. The problem is finding a good source of him saying “three”. I tried the one of him telling Rey that he will give her three lessons, but it is too short and doesn’t match.

Last could work well, but it might be best to avoid the suggestion that ghost Luke will never teach her anything else again. I’d still be willing to try it though.

Do you know if he does actually say “third” at any point during the movie?

EDIT: Did another test. The inflection Mark does with the word “lesson” makes it so that it would only sound natural as the first part of the phrase. So it would have to be a word that makes sense after “lesson”.

Try thinking about this: would you rather undermine Rey’s arc in TLJ (that she learns to stop caring about her parents altogether) by keeping the TRoS reveal that her parents did love her, or would you preserve Rey’s TLJ arc by editing it so her parents thought she was worthless because she was a Palpatine and they feared of what she’d become?

Ok, I finally found it. It’s made by this guy on YouTube named “JXEditor” (not sure if he’s a part of these forums or not). Anyways, the scene is… a lot rougher than I remember it being. But, it could be a good start in trying to figure out how to crack this nut.

Also Jar, if you’re still having any trouble finding any clips of Mark Hamill saying “three” for your pass, I found these HD YouTube videos of the Wing Commander games he was apart of in the 90’s. I think if you find any instance of him saying three, you could also take it and then “gruff up” his voice to make him sound like Luke.

And finally, in regards to the new “night to day” Ahch-To scene… I know it’s pretty much locked in now. However, I was reminded of the TLJ announcement video that includes a shot of Skellig Michael that I had never seen before in the films. I thought it could be something to maybe look at and possibly replace the documentary footage I think the current scene has now.

I’m not sure where exactly Jxeditor got the “three” from in that video. It doesn’t sound like the one Luke says when he tells Rey he will teach her the ways of the Jedi (and why they must end). I could be wrong though.

I’ll try it out when I get the time to.
