Rebels Yoda looks positively sexy by comparison.

IDK this one’s pretty sexy too…

Those tiny eyes are so freaky. And why are they blue?

I had to google the comic because I remembered the art being quite solid, but there’s actualy several weird Yoda’s in it.
Blob Yoda
Possessed Yoda.

My bro is watching all of star wars properly for the first time, he saw ROTS (he was only 9 at the time and i was 10) & the sequels in cinema, he loves mandalorian, and last night we got to the Obi-Wan episode of Rebels. He adores Maul, but his mind was blown by the fight. He recognised Qui-Gon’s stance, Obi’s prequel stance & his OT stance, & he knew it was over when he saw Maul change his footing.

Has he seen the original trilogy???

Yeah. He was very indifferent about star wars for years but since it’s such a big part of me, he wanted to see it through my eyes & he feel in love with the original trilogy.

This is the order we are watching:

  • Episode 4
  • Episode 5
  • Episode 6
  • Episode 1
  • Episode 2
  • Clone Wars Season 1 to half way through season 7
  • Revenge of the Sith
  • The Second half of Clone Wars Season 7
  • Solo
  • Rebels (where we are right now)
  • Rogue One
  • Then A Rewatch of the Original trilogy followed by the Sequels.
  • Then we’ll rewatch all of Mandalorian

He is obsessed with Clone wars now, we got to watch Revenge of the sith & the second half of Season 7 of clone wars on the same night & it made me enjoy the prequels more. I’ve had my issues over the years with them, but seeing him see the good in them & being in it for the experience & feeling has made me look at them differently.

He is hyped as hell for Bad Batch.

It’s so weird to watch the prequels with someone who never watched them and seeing them appreciate them.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing 😃! Originals are my favs. Very interesting watching order as well. I definitely agree about originals being first, then the prequels and Clone Wars. What I usually do instead of a rewatch of the originals is watch 4, 5, then all prequel content, and then finish with 6 to wrap it up. Then the Mandalorian, of course.

Here’s what I mean but easier to understand:

Star Wars

The Empire Strikes Back

The Phantom Menace

Attack of the Clones

Clone wars season 1 - s7 e9

Revenge of the Sith

Solo

Rebels

Rogue One

Return of the Jedi

The Mandalorian

(Sequel trilogy optional)

I like having the twist in ESB where we learn that Darth Vader is Luke’s Father, then learning about how Luke’s Father became Darth Vader, and learning about all that lead up to the final climactic episode 6, adding more weight to it’s outcome. The Mandalorian acts as a nice way for the story to move forward after Jedi.

Forgot to add that, similar to how you (ThisisCreation) have it, I have the last 3 episodes of CW S7 after revenge of the Sith because it’s really interesting to see as a parallel story line. The last episode also ends after Revenge of the Sith.

I fully believe Star Wars Rebels has some of the best locations in Star Wars. I felt like posting them here for some more appreciation.

They’re weird and exotic, just like SW settings should be. I find it really annoying that the newer films (for the most part) just added more deserts and ice planets. The OT obviously did the same, but that’s for budget and technology reasons.

I especially like Takobo. It’s too bad we didn’t get to see more of it. Horizon base is also pretty unique, so I wonder what inspired the design.

So true! The Abrams films are the biggest offenders IMO.

I loved the fact that Rebels spend most of the time in unknown, new planets, with a few exceptions such as Yavin 4.

Three years ago today, the Star Wars: Rebels series finale ‘Family Reunion - and Farewell’ aired!

As a result, today is ‘Rebels Remembered’ day. I can’t tell you how good it is to see so many people coming together to appreciate this lovely show. It’s a very compelling story of a family unit being forged in a time of desperation, and although it’s primarily about the formation of the Rebellion, it has many great additions to Star Wars mythology and the Force also. It has some truly fantastic characters, one of the best romantic couples in Star Wars, and one of the best master-apprentice relationships in Star Wars. And despite what some say about the animation, I love how it brings McQuarrie’s art-style and some of his unused concepts to the screen - and I personally think it looks great too.

Sorry if this is a little late, but I love that this is being commemorated. Here’s my contribution:
Thrawn-Mikkelsen-1.png
We may be seeing Thrawn in an upcoming series so I’ve done a little bit of fan-casting here. For those who don’t know, this is Lars Mikkelsen, the voice actor for Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. I certainly couldn’t imagine any other voice for Thrawn so Lars gets my vote. I only made changes that would be possible with practical makeup so as to be accurate. I didn’t remove his beard because any attempts I made made him look plasticky, but I think that he would look incredible for thrawn sans-beard. I think he is perfect for the role. He fits the Star Wars casting bill as being not too recognizable too; there aren’t really any characters that people have him associated with so they would only see him as Thrawn.

Your edit isn’t appearing for me, neither on here nor on the website, unfortunately

I’m usually annoyed when people pretend their opinions are objectively correct. That said, Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn is the objectively correct choice. When people fancast actors like Benedict Cumberbatch or Jason Isaacs, they say things like “_________ could make a great Thrawn”. Meanwhile, Lars is ALREADY a great Thrawn! I can’t read any line of Thrawn’s dialogue in the books without hearing it in that voice, and I can’t imagine a portrayal of Thrawn without it.

I could not agree more. From what I’ve seen his on screen acting is also solid. I’m sorry the picture isn’t showing up for you. Here, see if this link works: https://photos.app.goo.gl/pyBPfseZbpyAjpcZ8

Yep, that works! Thanks. It’s a pity you couldn’t make his eyes fully red, but this is a great indication of what Mikkelsen’s live action Thrawn would look like. Personally, I think maybe a small chin prosthetic to make it sharper (as long as it’s not uncomfortable for Lars) and he’s there.

I’d prefer animation for a Rebels sequel - I think it’s more faithful to the original show, and you can do much more ambitious projects that way. But if they’re going the live action route, Lars Mikkelsen is the man to bring Thrawn to the big screen.

EDIT: also for some reason, the original picture is NOW showing up all of a sudden. 🤷‍♂️ Sorry if you had to go to any trouble putting it on google photos!

That was just a simple mistake. I couldn’t remember if his eyes were fully red or just the pupils. I’ll fix that when I get the chance, thanks for the reminder 🙂

I can’t wait to see Thrawn in the Ahsoka series.

When season one ended I was on the edge of my seat during the whole arc where Tarkin and the Inquisitor captured Kanan. I really thought they were going to kill him off, leaving Ezra masterless. At the time my friends thought I was taking it too seriously that they would never kill off a main character on a kid’s show.

Turns out the plan was to have Maul kill him at the end of season TWO. So close.

We just re-watched all of Rebels this past Winter. Such a great show. Possibly my favorite Star Wars. Certainly my favorite Star Wars not named Star Wars or The Empire Strikes Back. (Sorry Rogue One. And Solo, you’re close.)

I saw that it was a story possibility for Maul to kill Kanan, and I’m glad they didn’t do that. Most of Kanan’s best moments with Ezra come in season 3 or 4 I think. It’s been 2 years, so I think it’s ok not to hide this as a spoiler - I think his actual death was perfect and far more impactful than it could have been otherwise. We see the rest of the Ghost crew struggling to move on without Kanan, and that’s touching to see, but if that went on for two whole seasons I think it would really have dragged the show down.

To those who like Rebels and to those who don’t, I really recommend watching this fan-made documentary. It’s an hour and a half so obviously that’s a big ask, but I watched it over several days and found it extremely thoughtful and engaging. Sam Witwer even posted about it on twitter.

It really delves into the mythological inspirations behind Rebels, and there are many.

This looks so good! Definitely looking forward to watching it. There’s also a three part series on the channel about The Clone Wars that looks just as engaging.

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

Fellow Rebels fans rejoice: Dark Horse are starting off their return to Star Wars by publishing an omnibus of comic strips from the Rebels magazine in Germany, most of which were previously unavailable in the US and UK.

I love that this show is still getting some love and acknowledgment. Only 4 months to go! 😃
