EDIT: Hal beat me to it. Let’s use his list, for obvious reasons.

Here’s everything I could think of that’s still in development/discussion for V2. Jump in if I’ve missed anything, and I’ll edit it into this comment:

  • Pasana Puppet Show (In development)
  • Potentially recoloring Ahch-To to go from nighttime to sunrise? (Discussion – I don’t think we decided one way or the other. I personally like the idea though. Plus, if the sky becomes purple at sunrise, it would symbolize Leia’s new lightsaber color.)
  • Finishing lightsaber crackle effects (In development – God bless the heroes working on this one)
  • Lightsabers fizzling out near the end of the Death Star battle, and after Palpatine’s defeat (In development, I think? I remember seeing a test clip, possibly done by MR?)
  • Maybe incorporating the Kylo on the Falcon deleted scene, if we can figure out a way to add the red cracks in the mask.

Things that have been finalized after a lot of discussion the last few dozen pages, and that we don’t need to bring up anymore:

  • Palpatine’s plan and the Snoke connection (Palpatine has been “Every voice” in Kylo’s head. Palpatine hasn’t “always” wanted Rey alive since birth; but he decides to use her as a vessel after Ben reforms.)
  • Poe used to be a spice runner
  • Rey and Kylo have “become” a Dyad - pending updates (basically implying that their connection has grown in strength since the last movie, rather than them being some arbitrary “Dyad” entity from birth)
  • And whatever else has already been incorporated into V2.

Also, here’s the list of V2 changes and their status. (This is literally copied and pasted from my own list, so it’s not articulated well.)

  • Try to make Kylo say “we’ve become a dyad in the Force” (being worked on, possibly finished)

  • Try to depict a dusk>night>sunrise cycle on Ach-To

  • Use sherlockpotter’s medal shot and adjust placement ✅

  • If anyone can do it, depict Pasaana puppet show as depicting Luke’s heroics from Crait

  • Remove three lines: “He wanted her alive” immediately before we cut to Ach-To and “I never wanted you dead, I wanted you here.” AND “…for my grandchild to come home.”✅

  • Add 21C Peasant’s and Movies Remastered’s Vader Castle to the opening Mustafar sequence ✅

  • Add two shots featuring Coruscant to the Star Destroyer conference room scene ✅

  • Use Vader’s TIE rather than shuttle due to the poll results ✅

  • new shot from MR to move “T minus five” line to before exiting hyperspace (not sure about this one yet, may leave as original)

Remove line “from the Southern shore” from 3PO’s translation, as that was when a protractor was involved, and now it’s merely a coordinate followed by mystical guidance ✅

  • Restructure the space battle opening slightly like DominicCobb ✅

  • Can Rey’s mother not mention her name? We all liked the idea that Rey named herself, per the X-wing helmet’s Aurabesh translation in TFA.✅

  • Use the crackly saber effect courtesy of kewlfish and Luka Frik and MR (being worked on)

  • Luke’s Jedi haircut (jonh needs to fix a couple things then skenera can de-blue)

Excellent! Thank you for this, Hal.

I wish one additional minor thing could be added onto the list (adding laser bolts to the TIE Fighter flyover shot during the Mustafar Minute), but it’s such a minuscule thing and I’m the only one really bothered about it.

And before anyone asks or quips… I would totally do it if I could. But I have no idea how to even approach something like that editing wise.

Question: Is this with the darkened windows or is it still the lit ones? If not, why didn’t we end up using the darkened ones? And yes, this darkening was finished if I recall correctly.

^ I am open to having the saber short out at the end of the DSII duel, if that pans out in the end, even though I wasn’t tracking that on my own list. Thanks for mentioning that.

And I wouldn’t include the TFA Falcon deleted scene. That seems like more than a longshot, so I feel bad even having that be included as a potential.

JEDIT: The Mustafar castle shot has the darkened windows, as it is presumably unoccupied and it helps it feel like decades have gone by since it was Vader’s castle.

And I’m really not sure laser fire would help the forest Mustafar shot. Actually, and this is reeeeaaaaally getting into the weeds, the presence of a single pine tree in the main sequence along with mostly a different type than seen during that shot leads me to feel better implying that those three TIEs had to fly a little ways to get to the battle itself.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Ah, well… It was worth a shot. lol.

Thank you for giving it some thought though. 😄

Hey, I’m all for someone removing the timecodes and attempting to include the Falcon deleted scene in this movie…for totally selfless reasons of course 😉

Slightly off-topic but has anyone been able to successfully remove the time code from it? Or even from the rest of the TFA deleted scenes for that matter?

I do really love the Kylo Falcon scene and that was a deleted scene I couldn’t understand why it got deleted. However, I do think it would fit better in an edit of TFA rather than this TROS edit.

The only completely successful attempt was the Leia and Kor Sella scene for Restructured. A user named Telecene did a partial timecode removal of the Kylo Falcon scene, but every other attempt has largely just cropped the timecode out.

Eventually I hope to do the timecode removal of the Klyo scene and several others from TFA, but the time and effort required are quite daunting.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I remember somebody was able to make it partially disappear. Like, if you weren’t looking at the corner of the screen you wouldn’t notice it was there but you would if you did.

I had it downloaded at one point, but lost it and don’t remember where I got it from on this forum since.

EDIT: Thanks Nev. That is also one way of still using the scene.

If I recall correctly, Sir Ridley helped remove the timecode as well. It was some advanced, painstaking effort and far from automatic.

That’s correct. SirRidley did most of the work on the Leia scene timecode and I just tackled one complicated timecode shot in that scene. It’s really painstaking, and this page details how I did it with moving objects in the frame:

There might be better technology now which can better automate the process.

Holy cow! That’s AMAZING work right there.

I really hope more recent tech can help take the timecode off of the other deleted scenes. It would really help with a lot of TFA edits.

I have an idea suggestion + a concept of it. There is a shot of Kylo in a surrounding that looks like his chambers on his Star Destroyer in the documentary. If you place it at the beginning of the mind link scene with Rey touching the dagger in his chambers, it makes it look like Kylo is right behind her… only to reveal that he isn’t. And then later on the fight, it appears they are fighting in his quarters while Kylo isn’t actually there, and that they are fighting on Kijimi’s surface while Rey isn’t actually there. So it all makes sense.

It’s a subtle change, but I feel it adds to the intensity of the “jumpscare”, if you will 😃

Important clarification: This change is inspired by Fixing Disney Star Wars.

Also, there is a slight audio pop there but that’s just because my editing software is bad. That wouldn’t be there in the final product.

That’s an interesting idea, Jar Jar!

One minor thing though: Rey gasps before Kylo speaks. Shouldn’t she gasp after he startles her?

Oh dear God, I had no idea the process was so painstaking. Hal’s right, we definitely shouldn’t worry about it for the Falcon scene in V2. That said, thank you for helping to make the other shot viable in TFA! It really adds a lot of context for the whole Resistance movement.

That is actually her repeating “No” because she is hearing her younger self saying it. I would actually want to remove that.

We already are using that same shot for the vision sequence. Also it seems to muddy the logic of what’s happening. Eh, I don’t think so on that one. But thanks for mocking it up.

I’m starting to feel like Lucas. Walking across a table filled with models painstakingly created by staff, belching out Cheeto dust and picking one of them.

Oh really? That’s cool. If I had known that I wouldn’t have done this to begin with lol.

Guess I need to rewatch the vision sequence. I don’t remember seeing it at all. Do you have the timestamp from the movie?

EDIT: Oh damn, you right. Never noticed that. Thank you for telling me. If you haven’t been able to tell by now, I’m currently going through every single piece of content that accompanied this movie to see if it can be put in LMAO.

Yeah, we really had to comb the desert with this one. Still amazing that we managed to reinstate a deleted scene we weren’t really even given, thanks mostly to poppasketti (the squeaky wheel).

All right, I’m signing off for the night. Let’s all try to take a step back and look at the whole picture with this thing.

I forgot to bring it up way back, but didn’t MR’s shot of Vader’s Fortress in the background still have the ‘lights’ on?

And yes Burbin I asked that question above and he did include it.

I meant the shot of Kylo holding the wayfinder where MR added the fortress in the background behind some trees.

From what I recall, that shot didn’t need that adjustment. But I could be wrong.

It was never worked on, if that’s what you’re asking.

Hey guys been a while, I’m still curious if anyone added a force ghost of Leia to the final battle with Palpatine on Exegol. I saw another edit that was amazing that had Qui-Gon added in
