What if there is a TCW-styled show that takes place between TLJ and TROS...

So TCW added lots depth to the Prequel era and takes the Prequel Trilogy from being not good films to a decently good acceptable films. What if there is a show that done the same to the sequel trilogy? It takes places between TLJ and TROS. The show would add to TROS and deepen the tale of what is going on and the tone ends up being more meaningful and TROS helps the show feel better to have more context of Rey and the others. The show would add more depth to the Sequel Era which previously you don’t get that and turn TROS from being a not very good movie into a decently good acceptable movie.

I’d like this, it worked well for the prequels. Develop the relationship of Rey, Finn and Poe by sending them on more adventures, and make the era interesting. While not on the tight, high-pressure schedule of needing to release the next instalment in a trilogy every 2 years, they could really put some thought into it.

Heh, you think I remember this movie?

Anyway, I feel like it’s a bit like ‘Their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire’, which got thrown out the window in Rebels.

Exactly. The Rebels thwarting the Empire episode after episode renders the struggles of the OT meaningless, and to top it off it’s always mission accomplished with no casualties. I really hate that stupid show.

Off topic, but Rebels avoids that problem (well, that’s up to debate) on a technicality - it’s expressly said in season 4 that their mission to free Lothal isn’t an official mission for the Rebel Alliance, but rather just another small group operation like old times. So it’s a massive victory, but none of the Rebellion leaders can actually claim it as their doing.

Besides, the opening crawl says “first major victory”. I didn’t expect the Rebel alliance to have had absolutely no success against the Empire before that, I just expected it to be smaller victories, which is what we see in Rebels.

There are so many possibilities. Instead of focusing on the main characters, we could get more of Connix and Beaumont, and/or see what happened with Jannah.

What?

It is a period of civil war.
Rebel spaceships, striking
from a hidden base, have won
their first victory against
the evil Galactic Empire.

And yes, you could lawyer your way out of the victory on Lothal, but that’s weasel words.

The point is that I can’t imagine they will hold to a single brief line from a less-than-popular movie if it means keeping the main character out of the show.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

As I stated before, it’s always mission accomplished with (almost) no casualties, smooth sailing. The victories should have been few and far between, and the very few times they succeed the sense of progress feels short-lived because of how small the victories are, and despite the seemingly hopeless outlook they refuse to give up. That IMO would have made for a more compelling show than the smooth sailing, risk averse garbage we got.

And like Neverar said, the opening crawl said first victory, plain and simple, not major.

Sorry, my mistake. Just my memory playing up.

It was the first Victory for “Rebel spaceships striking from a hidden base.” It wasn’t the first time people had stood up against the Empire. What happened on Lothal was organized by Ezra, not Mon Mothma and the Rebel Alliance. I’m sure plenty of places had minor victories before the Rebellion actually solidified. Probably could’t have even formed an Alliance if no one ever had any previous success at all.

I would like a show like that but set between episode VI and VII. A Luke Skywalker show a blend of live action and cgi to de-age Mark Hamill. Showing his journeys after the film to find the old secrets of the jedi order, the old jedi relics and holy sites. Studying the deeper mysteries of the force and him setting up and building a new jedi order. Ending with the destruction of his temple and order at the end of the series by Ben Solo.

There has already been a comic series called The Rise of Kylo Ren about this (haven’t read it myself), but it’s not all that popular and could easily be retconned. Some people who weren’t happy with Luke in TLJ say that because you don’t see enough of his efforts to rebuild the Jedi and how crushing Ben’s destruction was to him, it’s much harder to be emotionally invested or satisfied that self-exile is a believable response. I disagree, but a show like you’re suggesting could appeal to them a lot, and I like how it could explore more lore of the Jedi.

Just do a show around the Galactic Civil War. There is no coherent story in the sequels to build on. Star Wars Resistance could have done that but that didn’t go anywhere.

I suppose a show leading up to the events of TFA could work, for the folks who care.
