Have you seen this version of Disco Dancer? It even has a topless clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa0DB7-jhzI
I only discovered it in the past year.

Also did you see the the restored “In the Beginning Was the End: The Truth About De-Evolution” that Nicholas Winding Refn had done last year?

I’m really looking forward to your project and I love the clip you posted.

Wow! Thanks for the tip. That restoration of “Truth About De-Evolution” will make my job a lot easier. Nice find on the alternate version of “Disco Dancer” too. That can definitely be a bonus feature!

Uploading something to hold you over while the work on this project continues. The long out of print De-Evolution single from 1977, restored from my personal vinyl copy. PM me for a link.

I know I keep going back and forth, but I’ve decided to work on new versions and master them in 4K. I’m really sorry this project is taking so long, but I truly want it to be the best it can possibly be. I truly thank everyone who has shown any interest in this project. To be honest, I was unsure that it would get any response, but it has become my most anticipated project. I’m taking a trip to Florida for a few days in the beginning of March, but otherwise I have been and will continue working on this daily. I am truly committed to making this the ultimate tribute to the most misunderstood band in music history. Devo is a huge trip of nostalgia for me, despite having grown up in the late 90s. If it weren’t for my mom showing me their greatest hits album when I was 5 years old, this project never would’ve happened. The responses I get from everyone on this this site keep me going, through this era that is extremely stressful for everybody. I cannot thank you guys enough for your support. I am promising to work on this project everyday throughout this month. I hope it will be available shortly after my trip to Florida.

Thank you for everything, and remember to take time out for fun!

After much consideration, I have decided to include the video for the cover of “Hey Hey, My My” with Neil Young from the film Human Highway. I was unsure of whether it should be included, but seeing as how the blu-ray version of the film has a much shorter version, I decided to buy a Laserdisc copy. As far as I know, this has the best source for the uncut version of “Hey Hey, My My”. Just like everything else on the disc, it will be restored in 4K. This brings the total count of videos up to 28 excluding bonus features. I am unsure, but that may make it an absolutely complete collection.

As a fellow Akronite who has a friend that’s related to Mark Motherbaugh, I whole heartedly approve this project!

Hey Mango just noticed that the band have an official Demo video for Mongoloid on their YouTube channel. Is this the same one that you have?

That’s pretty cool! Checked that out, then watched a 1982 Letterman interview, which is really funny! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoboWHE42Fk

Is the alternate Disco Dancer the extended mix of the song? I definitely would love a copy of this compilation.

Spring might not be possible, got kinda distracted after a trip to Florida, but it will happen sometime in the near future. Still working out ways to finalize everything. New preview images will be released within a few days. 😃

This project as well as my Weird Al project is on hold until this fall. I want to finish some of my other projects (TCM, Tron, The Howling, American Movie, and one TBA) before starting work again.

As for Shrek, with the pandemic still going, we’ll just have to be patient. Thanks you all so much for your support.

Due to time constraints, I’ve decided to make this project far more bare bones than I originally envisioned, meaning the project will be initially released as a collection of all the videos in their raw exported MOV format. The bonus features are on hold for now. This goes for all the projects I’m currently working on, such as the Weird Al Project, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Howling and a project that is being kept secret until it’s release. The Shrek project will not be affected by this.

All the projects will eventually be released as a blu-ray with bonus features, but for now I’m gonna keep things simple.

As my experiments with upscaling software continue, I realize more and more that denoising removes far too much detail. I am making a promise to release this project before spring, (along with my Weird Al project) and I hope you guys appreciate the results. No amount of work will ever make these look “brand new”, but all I want is something marginally better then the DVD’s that are available. New versions of the upscales are being done, and the minimalist approach is the way to go. Screenshots of the new versions coming soon. Thank you for your unbelievable patience with me.

Yeaaah, so those last previews were really shitty. But I finally found a good blend of denoise that retains the detail. I’ve been working on this project several hours a day for about a week. Thank you to everyone once again for their incredible patience. I promise the end result will be worth it.

A lot of it looks great, but the “chorus shots” of our boys, their faces, sometimes look over-processed…

https://youtu.be/yfBIsug4XOw?t=37

But I don’t know the source so perhaps that’s to be expected with those shots? (Is this an artifact of de-noising…?)

Is noise really that much of a problem in the source?

I’m not out to poo poo on your results. They do look good! 😃 Just throwing out thoughts from looking closely at things as you seemed to say you wanted.

LightWave = fun times with gfx for me 😃
