It came really close, but TM2YC’s edit of Blade Runner won Favorite FanEdit of the Month.

I’d say TM2YC as an individual is more deserving of that distinction for that project than I with mine. In other words, if TROS:A were to have won it’d have been because of you all.

My June 10th viewing of Blade Runner will be pretty neat, though!

My stance on revising fan edits.

I can understand that, but the level of VFX work done by some of the people here is so good that it blew mew away with the kind of work you can accomplish on a fan edit.

Sounds like something you could do in an alternate audio track to mux in, maybe?

It’s timed slightly differently, to help mask the lips. It would have to be an alternative edit. Anyone who prefers it can download the file I made and then chop out the corresponding moment from your edit and the music should sync back up.

I know this has probably been decided now, but I think adding that shot someone made of the TIE fighters circling around Vader’s castle to the shot of them flying over the woods would be fantastic to add in.

Even though I’m personally not crazy about using video game footage, the color correction on those shots to make them fit is pretty impressive. Those TIE shots are pretty nice too.

I believe I suggested the idea as well awhile back. I can’t watch that scene without thinking of that missed opportunity. I’d love to see it if some wizard could possibly whip it up.

All credit to you if you posted it first lol. Either way I like the way ya think!

Oh I’m sorry I didn’t mean to take credit or anything, not even sure if I came up with the idea or saw it somewhere else. Just that there are others who want it too!

This is my latest update to those shots for anyone interested.

Looks great. I think someone suggested removing the red glow from Vader’s castle which would be great as it’s supposed to be abandoned.

This looks really, really good.

I love that new shot of the TIEs over the trees with the castle in the background.

The TIEs themselves flying at the camera aren’t exactly perfect, but I can look past it. I’m really pleased with how much this addition fleshes out that whole sequence.

I concur. It looks neat. Not that fan of the pilot shots but the battle ground and the Tie fighters added material is really good. Hal is only going to add the first castle shot to TROS:A, right?

So long 🙌

Ideally we’d go from the opening shot with the TIEs heading toward the Destroyer in space, then the castle shot with the inner glow removed, then TIEs heading across the woods, then Kylo.

I think a new shot needs to be made for the castle approach.

Just to pull an idea RogueLeader had in the TROS ideas thread for everyone’s consideration…

RogueLeader said:

Kind of building on the idea of the crackly Skywalker saber, I think it could be interesting if during Kylo and Rey’s duel on the Death Star, that Rey’s saber was almost becoming “overloaded” from the constant saber-clashing, and starts shorting out by the end of the duel. For example, in the shot where Rey sort of shakes her hand, you could have the saber fluttering in and out. Then finally, when Kylo keeps hammering away at Rey while she is on the ground, we could see the saber give out while Kylo is raising his to deliver the final blow. This would give a reason for why Rey grabs Kylo’s saber and stabs him with it, rather than just using her own.

I think it would add an interesting aspect to the duel that we haven’t really seen before, where our characters are dealing with a malfunctioning weapon. It also gives Rey a practical reason for why she inevitably builds her own.

This is something I really think would be great to fully realise. 😃
Hopefully it can find a place in this edit.

I honestly just think the current approach shot there is for castle could be better, just doesn’t seem on same level with the Jedi temple and Naboo shots, I’ll try speak to Jonh about it.

You know how Adywan used new models of sets and stuff for his remasters of the original trilogy? Try doing the same with this.

You know, making new scenes, shots and stuff with specific resources required the way Adywan did with his remasters of the original trilogy…
