Hi all,

I have put together a watching order up for myself after the first season of The Mandalorian and playing Fallen Order, primarilty to get myself up to speed on lore things related to Mandalore and Dathomir. I consulted every available guide and episode rating list online. This is what I have compiled.

I threw out about 38% of the episodes and arranged the rest into 3 or 4 episode long “chapters”. I have to admit I haven’t been able to watch beyond “Chapter 12” so I don’t know if the rest works at all. Any advice is welcome in that matter.

I don’t know if you’ve reached that point yet, but “The Lost One” really should come after “The Wrong Jedi”. Also you could sneak in the missing episodes “Heroes on Both Sides” and “A Friend it Need” somewhere before “Dark Empire”.

Thanks for the input! I read good things about those episodes, but since they are not in an arc, I found it difficult to include them. But since posting this, I found an interesting project by EddieDean and I think I will follow his episodes instead of this after all.

My brother, who is/was a surface level star wars fan, recently watched this for the first time. I have seen it several times but he wants to go through the whole series with me. That actually explains me being here & trying to obtain the best versions of the movies.

This show really upped his love for Star Wars and the larger star wars world. He loved Plo-Koon, he had forgot Plo dies, seeing as the last time he saw revenge of the sith was in the cinema in 2005 when he was 9 & i was 10.
When he got to the Order 66 montage he was so pissed off to see Plo meet his maker.

It just shows, Clone wars was able to background character and make us love them.

Dave Filoni is a big Plo Koon fan and apparently was very dismayed when he got blown up in Revenge of the Sith. This confused me a bit, because I didn’t know Plo Koon ever really got to demonstrate character before Dave made TCW, and gave him speaking roles.

What would have made Dave such a fan of Plo before 2005? By the way, I’ve only watched half of the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, so I suppose it could be that.

Plo Koon is killed in Cato Nemoidia.

This is correct, but that wasn’t my question - how much did we see of Plo BEFORE he died?

Not too much, but he was a recurring character in a bunch of Legends comic stories, games and even some novels. Those were all still canon when TCW started.

Plo Koon was relatively popular in the expanded universe (his role in the 2D Clone Wars is minimal though, he appears only at the council scene and has no lines). Plo appeared in games like Jedi Power Battles and was a part of the prequel era ancillary material since before TPM came out. He even used a yellow lightsaber before that was retconned by Lucas in AOTC.

In Star Wars even the most unknown of characters can inspire a cult following, so I kind of understand why Dave Filoni would be intrigued by Plo Koon and wanted to turn him into a fan favorite.

We’ve finished Season 6 and are into Season 7 now.

The Inhibitor Chip episodes were pretty good, I liked the use of the sassy medical droid and the amount of intrigue. It’s just a shame that it makes the Jedi Order look even more incompetent than in the movies since now they know of the anti-Jedi defect in the clones.

We decided to watch the Clovis Arc even though we hadn’t seen his previous episodes. It’s a strangely adult-themed arc with brutal jealous violence, a financial plot, and melodrama galore. It’s not terribly relevant and Padme continues to be wasted potential.

The Lost One feels peculiar. On the one hand it’s nice to have answers to AOTC’s dropped plotline, but on the other hand…the Jedi now have answers to AOTC’s plotline. Again they seem totally incompetent for not putting two and two together that the clones are an anti-Jedi weapon. Points for the mysterious sandstorm opening.

To wrap up the show, Yoda goes on an excellent adventure which becomes sort of a bogus journey until he has to face the music. It’s nice to see the show experiment with grand philosophical questions about the nature of the Force and immortality, and some of the imagery is great. The masked beings are striking and it’s good to see Yoda realizing that he has a dark side that he’s been repressing. The Sith episode doesn’t make much sense to me, but at least it’s trying to wrap up the story in a somewhat hopeful way before ROTS.

So there’s another season.

The Bad Batch is fun.

That’s all. It just sort of ends. The drama of the bomb is diffused pretty quick and Trask feels like an afterthought. Echo’s torture is pretty dark for the show, which actually feels at odds with the lighthearted Rambo action.

Here’s to seeing how this final final season ends.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)

Plo Kloon is a breath of fresh air after spending time with so many Jedi characters that are in constant snark/sarcasm mode.

I finally saw the Umbara Arc, which was pretty good. That being said I was thinking it would go all the way with a Paths of Glory ending instead of what happens.

Forgot to say - thanks Wexter and Kalee for the replies. That early 2000s period of spinoff prequel books, comics, and the like being released while the prequel trilogy itself was still in motion, is very interesting and I’ll have to check out more of the content from then.

Why does the finale use the old Lucasfilm logo when it’s been scrubbed from the franchise elsewhere?

Author
Time

My guess is they wanted it to feel retro, and closer to the original trilogy than the prequels ever were. A lot of people working on the project probably have nostalgia for that logo. I really liked seeing it.

Yeah I guess but kinda weird when their target audience doesn’t remember it. Other than that, good conclusion overall. Based on the other potential loose threads from S6 though it’s strange that they chose The Bad Batch to continue with, that was the weaker part of the last few arcs.

I rewatched the last season again. It’s just so great. Some of the best Star Wars there is.

I just watched the Heroes on Both Sides arc again and still consider it to be one of the most engaging and underrated bits of Star Wars. Padme’s humanitarian efforts shine through in a very meaningful way and it’s really good seeing things aren’t clearly defined. We’re all people at the end of the day. I think that’s something we all need reminding of.

It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

Agreed

Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

This episode is probably the closest the series ever got to a “shades of grey” scenario.

I agree. I like how it gives a glimpse into the shades of grey of the conflict. It’s also great how it calls back to the opening crawl of Revenge of the Sith too. It adds greater context to it and more of an understanding of how there are good people on both sides and that these things aren’t always clear cut.

I just finished the A Sunny Day in the Void arc. I really enjoyed it. I like how it was a lighthearted and accessible existential crisis story. I can definitely see callbacks to THX 1138 in it. I’d even say some of it reminded me a bit of Stalker. I love WAC-47. He’s so cute and funny. R2 saving the day in the end was super cool to see. I miss him as a central character. I can definitely appreciate why it’s George’s favourite.

I’ve been thinking and find it to be very unfortunate that we never saw a confrontation between Anakin and Darth Maul. It would have been so emotional due to their interwoven destinies and so intriguing to see Anakin angry at him about killing Qui-Gon. Plus there’s even Darth Maul tapping into the void that Obi-Wan couldn’t fully fulfill of being a father figure. There’s honestly so much potential beyond even just these two points. I really wonder if George had held onto Star Wars awhile longer whether or not we would’ve seen a fight between them since the series was supposed to go longer than what we got. I’d like to hope so. Especially with Darth Maul being the big bad of his Sequels as it would’ve created an extra connective tissue history with the Skywalker family.

When Maul was reintroduced in Star Wars Rebels I expected his story to be this: he becomes an ally of the Rebellion who’s not trustworthy because he’s still very much a committed practitioner of the Dark Side and is only driven by his hatred of the Empire and revenge against the Emperor in particular, and he would frequently make snarky comments on the Rebellion’s lack of ruthlessness, and would naturally take a liking to Saw Gerrera, and would obviously encourage Ezra to give in to his darker tendencies, however his deals with the rebels start to rub on him and he becomes fond of them even if he refuses to acknowledge it. I would have then concluded his arc with him facing Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel, where he expresses a desire to have the duel with both of them in their prime, and Maul ultimately dies in his confrontation with Vader, realizing how futile his quest for vengeance against the Emperor was.

Instead what we got was Maul still looking to pick a fight with Obi-Wan. Seriously, what a waste.
