You should be able to import both versions in the project file and and export them both. The effects you’re applying should line up with both versions.

so… as i expected, too “fanedity” for my taste, there are some cool things, in the first half the music was pretty well synced with the “rise”, the tantive iv exploding was REALLY cool (Hal, please?), but the rest… CG Yoda and Gollum Anakin broke it to me, i dunno… really well made tho, wonder if the man could help us.

I appreciate the effort to include the amazing trailer music (you can see my attempt to put it in a different scene here: https://vimeo.com/459982104), but it didn’t fit well IMO and started to become messy with the constant music changes.
The Tantive IV explosion was great! I’d love to see that included in Hal’s edit.
The Force ghosts are a mixed bag. I thought they looked a bit rough (especially Yoda and Anakin who looked like PS3 characters lol) and moved unnaturally. However, I thought the inclusion of Qui-Gon was cool (he’s canonically able to appear as a physical ghost by the time of ANH according to the "From A Certain Point of View book) and if we ever get confirmation that Ahsoka died before TROS and became a Force ghost, I’d love to see her and Qui-Gon added to jonh’s version.
Why does Luke look scared and yell at Rey when she destroys Palpatine? And the Yoda line at 3:02 was hilarious and not in a good way. What even was that? Lmao

Jonh’s version is the best as is. We have Obi-Wan and Yoda from the OT, Anakin from the PT, and Luke from the ST. All characters important to LUKE, and to viewers of the OT. Adding any more would just feel like overkill and something we would see in a George Lucas special edition. The Phantom Four feels like something that would have originally been in the film.

And are there even any good shots of Ahsoka that could be used? She didn’t have a ton of screentime. Sadly if that were to happen, we might have for the actual Ahsoka show where I’m sure there’d be some good stuff to work with.
I always thought the Tantive IV explosion belonged to this movie, c’mon, Rey exploded a ship when se used a bit of Lightning and when Palpatine burst the biggest nut ever after 30 years he just stuns the fleet? Imagine how the stakes would rise if one by one of the fleet are exploding by Palpy’s Lightning while Rey is in the floor trying to regain strenght. But it’s the same old TROS problem of having no consequences. And exploding the Tantive IV, literaly the first ship we ever saw on Star Wars would have been a really bold move, and a respected one IMO.

Just saw it. Yeah I think some of it is definitely usable. Jonh’s version is still my favourite but a combination of the two would work quite well, me thinks.

Regarding the Tantive IV explosion, I like how it erases the issue of Force lightning being inconsistent (on one hand it blows up the transport on Pasaana, but it doesn’t blow up the Resistance ships on Exegol), but the explosion in the edit does look a bit out-of-place in comparison to the rest of the scene.
The cool thing about the Tantive IV shot is that it’s canon as per the novelization. And I agree- the initial explosion looks great, but it’s slightly off when it starts turning to smoke. I’d still use it though

The video is named “True Rise of Skywalker”. Yeah, ok, but no.
I totally appreciate the effort, but the trailer music doesn’t work, at times there’s the original music over the new one, the added Yoda voiceover is odd, the Force “possession” (?) is cringe, Obi Wan turning his head is bad-looking, Anakin’s face looks strange.
I liked the shot where they all raise their hands, and it looks like Anakin is the one who pulls his lightsaber into Rey’s hand. But I don’t know if it’s usable (Qui Gon…)
Again, I respect the work behind it, but if one publishes something he must be open to criticism. I would never be able to do something like that, but I didn’t like it.

It was cool to see and it must’ve been a big project for him to put together, but I don’t think there’s anything new I would actually wish to see folded into the film itself.
jonh’s work is sublime in its subtlety and fits better for this project, which it was meant for and this other thing was not.
The Blockade Runner explosion is cool, but unnecessary. (i can imagine people would say “WHAAAAT? THEY JUST BLEW UP NIEN NUNB LIKE THAT?? THAT’S WORSE THAN WHAT THEY DID TO ADMIRAL ACKBAR IN THE LAST ONE!!!” if that part was in the original film.)
