When I saw that scene, I thought right away… “How is smudger gonna edit this to make it work?” Lol.

Great scene, but that has no part in my plan here. I doubt it’ll even make the cut in my Boba series movie!

Also probably the best idea. Could help explain what Boba was doing on Tatoonie for the last 5 years. We see that he’s been running Jabba’s Palace this whole time after his death.

Great last episode. However, that cold open has created a problematic story gap. That’s going to take some creative editing to overcome.

I’m erring on the side of a single movie for season 2. I’m excited to finally start cutting things together knowing how the season finishes!

I really love Boba killing Fortuna at the end of Season 2.

I think the story gap can be easily remedied with a shot of the Lambda-Class Shuttle by itself (following the shot of Slave I entering hyperspace at the end of the previous episode) and then have the Slave I show up and start shooting at it… boom. back on track.

I think my recommendation has stayed consistent.

Have a crawl that establishes Din is searching for more Mandalorians to help him locate Jedi. Pan down to Razor Crest’s approach to Tatooine.

Start with the opening of The Passenger, showing Mando enter the cantina with Fett’s armour, get the job, cut from dangerous to approaching Trask in The Heiress. This becomes Act I.

Pretend the Mon Cala actually repaired the ship, use the tease from the end of The Siege to set up Gideon’s return later. The Jedi and The Tragedy become Act II.

Cut down The Believer to have the face reveal, as the low-point. You can even have the events narrated with them describing the dangers, kinda like a heist movie, where them describing the plan is over it happening until something goes wrong. This beat, along with recruiting Bo-Katan can be the gathering of the team moment, similar to the first film when he goes to find Cara.

Use The Rescue as Act III.

I’d say two movies is probably the best option. The only way you could possibly get one movie to work is by cutting Chapter 9, and that would make it kind of weird how Mando suddenly has Boba Fett’s armor given how important it becomes later on.

Here’s my idea for a two movie structure:

Episode 2
THE SEARCH
Chapter 9 (with cuts to reduce references to Chapter 5), Chapter 10, Chapter 11, Chapter 12
Approximate runtime: 2 hours 29 minutes
If keeping post-credits scenes, have Gideon revealing the Dark Troopers be the post-credits scene.

Episode 3
THE TRIUMPH
Chapter 13, Chapter 14 (once again trimmed to remove Chapter 5 references), Chapter 15, Chapter 16
Approximate runtime: 2 hours 27 minutes
If keeping post-credits scenes, keep the Boba spinoff tease after the credits.

It’s not a very creative edit, so I could understand why one movie would be more interesting. But I think two movies makes the most sense from a storytelling point of view.

I think Ahsoka should be cut.

Here me out. Ahsoka’s episode is one of the best of this season. Incredibly well-paced plus the emotional callbacks to the Clone Wars and Prequels were excellent. But in the grand scheme, it is not essential. In fact, I would say it damages the ending of the Rescue because of how supposedly awe-inspiring the arrival of Luke is… when Mando has already seen a Jedi in action.

Imagine if the story went like this…
– Bo-Katan tells Mando to go to Tython and find a Jedi there
– Mando goes to Tython and Grogu is taken
– Mando leads a rescue, first with the Imperial Base and then the Ship
– After a movie of searching, a Jedi is finally found

It simplifies the plot. I’d argue Ahsoka is great nuance in a TV show, but for a movie, the pacing becomes incredibly rushed and the plot wonky.

Now, admittedly I haven’t worked out all the kinks. You would have to make Ahsoka’s voice sound like Bo-Katan, or potentially compile some clips from TCW and Rebels since it’s the same actress and make her say to travel to Tython. Second, Mando’s spear would be something we can assume he collected between episodes, although I really don’t consider this that big a plot hole. The only admittedly important piece of information we gain is the Child’s name being Grogu, but unless I’m mistaken, I don’t think this ever comes up again? Mando keeps calling him “the kid” and Gideon “the child”.

This would save 40 some minutes from the movie and gives you time to fully develop the Heiress, Tragedy, Believer, and Rescue episodes, which frankly I think are the real “core” of this season emotionally.

My thoughts on the Ahsoka episode currently are to cut the village scenes. Have Mando land, find Ahsoka and then leave.

There is little of value in the end confrontation and cutting the lightsaber action will add more weight to Luke’s entrance.

Hm. I think you should start with ep1, when the guys sit on the table, and Cobb stats to say something he probably won’t stand a chance against mando, cut directly to Mando going away with the armor from the end of this episode (Bo as cameo). Then, use the start of the second episode, cut into 3rd.use the whole 3rd episode, cut the 4th,only have the scene with Dark troopers, we ll suppose they repaired the ship on Mon Cala.then, use some trimmed s02e05. Then the whole ep6. As much as 7th was nice, it’s a filler so you d have to cut it :c Then, the final act is the 8th episode. It leaves you with 3 whole episode, short bits of 2 eps and one trimmed. You ll end with a coherent 2h30 movie I think

Cutting The Jedi also cuts his new weapon that he uses to fight off Gideon.

I’d simplify and condense that episode, but not cut it. I’d keep some of the conflict there, including his being hired to kill her.

It also gets rid of the whole reason they go to Tython, meet Boba and the reason Luke shows up at all.
Ahsoka cannot be cut.

I agree with all of that, just pointing out what trying to create the Tyrhon dialogue with Bo-Kayan instead would miss.

It’s also worth noting that this is building up to an untitled crossover series between The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Rangers of the New Republic that’s likely cantered on Thrawn. It might be better to seed some of those plot elements here with her episode.

I might be wrong here but in the finale, Cara Dune says her "gun is jammed. Is it just me or have they never referred to blasters as guns. later in the episode Moff Gideon even says “drop the blaster”. I personally found it distracting. Maybe you could trim some of these hallway blaster scenes?

Han Solo and Luke refer to a blaster pistol and a turret, respectively as “gun” in Return of the Jedi.

fair enough thanks guys, here’s another one. So Boba’s armor is now canonically beskar yes? if so how does his jetpack malfunction from a staff on jabbas barge but Din’s can take a lightsaber hit?

On the topic of Beskar, when the mando squad are taking the gizanti cruzer why is it that mando is the only one who can run toward the troopers and deflect their fire and the others are “pinned down”.

I don’t think an edit can fix this. If you want to complain about plot holes, do so in the discussion thread.

It might only be his armour, as Jango’s jetpack was damaged by lightsabers back in the day wasn’t it?

I don’t think Death Watch or the Night Owls have Beskar armour. Unless they upgraded after TCW where they kept getting cut up by lightsabres.

I also think the Mando arc in Rebels said it was a Beskar alloy.

In the original Star Wars… Trash compactor scene… “Blast it will ya, my gun’s jammed”

If I’m not mistaken, the jetpack malfunction happens in The Marshall as well when Din hits the jet on Cobb’s back. Therefore it is probably not as protected as the rest of his outfit.

I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned, but there’s a gorgeous (but still imperfect) deepfake already up for THAT character at the end of The Rescue. Definitely should reach out to this person for a copy of their master file. The overall look, eye reflections and skin texture were vast improvements for me.

The Death Watch gear in TCW was probably beskar in part since they were originally stationed in a moon where beskar was mined, but not enough for it to become lightsaber or blaster-proof.

Wasn’t Jango’s jetpack damaged by the Reek beast rather than a saber?
