I realize this is technically the wrong thread to ask this in, but since jonh just confirmed that the Hayden ghost is the only way to go for the Palpatine fight, why does Hal’s custom SE of Return of the Jedi still have Shaw?
We understand Jonh, the whole work thing just gets in the way eh? haha!
I agree too with you assessments about Anakin in the scene. Also, I can only imagine how tough using Sebastian at all since what footage is there? I personally think you did great aging Hayden a smidge. It was a nice touch.

Because Hayden in ROTJ does not make sense for that film IMHO.
And thanks for chiming in, jonh! Wishing you well, too!!
Hi, everyone
Yesterday I asked about if jonh was still doing the force ghost scene with Sebastian Shaw and it seems there’s a notable lack of footage for that to happen
So I did a quick mock-up in FaceApp to showcase that with EbSynth + FaceApp we could somehow create some new footage! (That was how Hayden was slightly aged in that scene to begin with)
I used a picture of Tobey Maguire from Spider-Man 1, along with a colored picture of Sebastian Shaw
This was the result:
I’d like to see someone do an aged-up Hayden or Hayden-Shaw hybrid for ROTJ, just to see what it looks like. The discontinuity does kind of bother me, but there’s nothing to say that Force ghosts can’t change how they appear.
Aw 😦
Save the Sebastian Shaw Ghost! Save the dream…!

Just kidding. It’s eerie, but I really like the idea of exploring this even if it doesn’t quite make sense to include in a full edit. Star Wars seems ripe for many options to explore for Deepfakes and stuff.
Save the Sebastian Shaw Ghost! Save the dream…!
I think a flawless Shaw makes more sense given the other ghosts all being their age when they died. I’d be open to it; my “if” was sincere!
And even if it doesn’t make it, it’d be easy to render out a version with Shaw, and perhaps a secondary Google Drive account or something could be linked to to host it.
At any rate, it sounds exciting to explore the concept!
I really wish I had the tools and/or the talent to take any sort of crack at him myself. No idea where to even begin, but hey. I’d do anything… for Shaw!!.. 😢

I am agree with you, Hal. Also in TROS not has sense, but they used Hayden’s voice, so it wasn’t possible not to use his aspect in Ascendant.

i have seen this on youtube! this version of this youtuber looks much better than mine !!! I am looking forward to seeing the final result 😃
That looks crazy, but the use of Anakin/deepfake seems abit cringe worthy, need to see the whole thing first.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural
Hmmm. I mean it looks really well made. I’m just curious as to… what they’d be talking about there. Or why, lol.
Save the Sebastian Shaw Ghost! Save the dream…!
Hmm, I’m partial to jonh’s OG phantom four. But we’ll see what this guy puts out… tomorrow apparently. Interesting tease, I wonder if it’s a whole edit.
That’s interesting! I’m curious how the final product will be. Anakin looked very wonky
I doubt it’ll end up totally working, but it still looks fun!
jonh killed it with his out-of-nowhere addition and it’d take something enormous to unseat it.
Interesting, I’ll hold off my view of it until we see it … however … I think it’s going to be like Scene 38 reimagined situation.
(Plus I like John’s so much since it fits so well.)

Jonh, I wouldn’t be so hard on yourself. Your version of the scene is less dramatic than that, but it’s subtlety makes it essentially seamless - it enhances what the movie already implies. On the other hand. while the animation of the hand, face, and camera movement in their shot of Obi-Wan are neat, their Anakin looks a little like an adult’s head on a child’s body.
It doesn’t bother me, I love watching others make alternate versions of that scene! it’s like watching a movie for the first time! I don’t like my scene anymore because I know how I did it hahaha, I see the seams hahaha:)
Im gonna hold judgement until the full scene is released. Jonh you version is incredible, subtle and to this point but I understand you’re your own worst critic 😉

I know this is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t like the crackle saber for Rey. I know it “makes sense” logically. But I don’t think it works visually. Kylos saber is like that to signify the rage inside of him.
“You can’t polish a turd. But you can shape it to look like candy.”
I think it works visually- Rey is struggling to overcome her dark lineage in this movie, and it lines up with her doing stuff like accidentally using Force lightning or striking a fatal blow to Kylo. Plus it’s great when Ben takes the saber because it represents how he’s finally able to use the Skywalker saber he’s always desired and honor the light side of his family lineage, but he also can’t ignore the sins of his past.
