Fett's Voice - the changes, similarities & differences

Why is it that there was this notion that the voices of all Mandalorian’s (clones) had to be the same and therefore this awful change was made in ESB, yet in the Disney show “The Mandalorian”, the main characters voice is nothing like that of Jango/Boba’s SE and when Boba Fett appears on the show he too has his old sounding voice back???

I don’t get what you mean. Temuera Morrison’s voice was only added to Boba Fett in the SE because that character was retconned to be a clone of Temuera’s Jango Fett in AOTC. No other canon Mandalorians are Fett clones.

Clone Troopers all sound like Jango/Boba because of PT clone accent logic.
Mando sounds nothing like this because he’s not a clone.
Boba still sounds exactly like Jango in S2 because it’s the same actor.
But since this is a Season 2 spoiler thread you should mark it up. Everything else you said makes it unclear if you saw the show since that would clear all of this up anyway.

Ok my bad. I understand more now. But that being said, Morrison as Boba sounds nothing at all like he did as Boba in ESB.

He’s just older. Jason Wingreen sounds nothing like him in the 1980 version.

The difference is that now he’s actually trying to sound different.

“It was a conscious choice,” Morrison says. “I thought, every now and then he hit some tonal qualities where, hey, he has been scarred. He has been affected internally, as well. So without sounding too false I wanted to bring a little gravel in there to give it a bit of timbre.”

While for the 04SE they called him on the phone and had him record dialog at his house with no thought or planning on his part, as far as I can tell. So he just did Jango. I so wish he’d thought to make Boba sound different than Jango back in 2004.

I guess my main point is in The Mandalorian Fett sounds exactly like he did in the 1980 version, so now I really don’t see the point of the ESB 04 voice change if Fett’s voice changed over time anyway. I absolutely hate the 04 voice change.

I do find this quite funny. I was thinking just recently while watching a Jason Wingreen and Temuera Morrison voice comparison video, poor Temuera Morrison must have felt so much pressure re-recording the lines. On the spot in the recording studio, having to live up to Jason Wingreen’s performance and delivering his own version of a widely beloved original trilogy character… Oh well, at least he’d have George Lucas’ direction to reassure him.

He recorded it in his house after a phone call. Great.

(EDIT: no hate for Temuera Morrison, I think the man’s an absolute legend. But seeing as this was recorded for the version that every newcomer to the original trilogy would watch from 2004 onwards, the team putting it together should have put more care into this.)

“Remember, the Force will be with you. Always.”

While the best scenario would be putting Wingreen’s voice back in, I think the scenes would benefit from a current redub from Morrison. His original recordings from 2004 sound very phoned in (hmm I wonder why 😉), and almost as if he wasn’t even given context for the lines we was delivering.

Army of Darkness: The Medieval Deadit | The Terminator - Color Regrade | The Wrong Trousers - Audio Preservation
SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

Morrison’s delivery of similar lines in the newer Battlefront games is much, much better. I wonder if Boba could be redubbed in ESB with snippets of dialogue from those sources.

We’d have to wait for the next ESB release, whenever that would be !
