I know ROsario has went through a the transforming process similar to Orli Shosan (AOTC and ROTS).

Is it bad that I was almost as excited to see a live-action Gozanti cruiser as I was to see live action Bo Katan? And that’s not saying anything about my excitement levels for Bo Katan.

Seriously, that was, that was awesome. I was in danger of breaking my teeth I was grinning so hard during that episode. Katee Sackhoff knocks Bo Katan’s live action debut out of the park, cinematography and world-building great (Trask is such an iconic new location!), the Cruiser was a great setpiece and had well-staged fight scenes, and it’s also worth mentioning they resolved the story of frog lady very nicely. I liked the ‘baby yoda eats eggs’ jokes well enough, but I hope a lot of those who didn’t now feel that baby yoda’s redeemed himself a bit, after seeing how guilty he is!

The prospect of the secret “fleet” that we almost got to see, as well as Ahsoka’s namedrop, has me very excited. I was expecting that latter moment since the bar scene, and even before season 2 released I theorised that Bo Katan would direct Mando to Ahsoka (or even vice versa), but finally hearing it set in stone is gratifying as hell. Huge congratulations to Bryce Dallas Howard, Jon Favreau, and the lot of those geniuses at Lucasfilm. This is the way.

I’ve never wanted the next episode of anything more than I do right now.

Just FYI, Filoni is directing episode 5, not episode 4 (which will be next week’s episode). Carl Weathers is directing next week’s episode, and since the only shots in the trailers we haven’t seen yet are from Mando going back to Nevarro and to see Greef and Cara, I’m guessing we won’t see Ahsoka next week, but the week after, on July 27th.

I’m guessing Mando stops by Nevarro to get his ship repaired properly (or they contact him asking for his help), and they have a run-in with some Imps in the meantime. (Possibly to help break a prisoner out?). And by the end of the episode Mando will head to the planet Ahsoka is apparently on.

Two weeks is excruciating enough, don’t make it eight months! lol

That director information makes a lot of sense. Maybe we get an Ahsoka tease at the end of episode 4? I just want to see what she looks like so bad!

Lol, oops! I have no idea why I said July… November 27th! God, July 2021 would be an awful wait!

Just saw the newest episode. Wonderful! Best episode of the entire show so far, for me. Bo-Katan looked perfect in live action! My guess is that after Mando finally delivers Baby Yoda to Asohka he will shift his focus on helping Bo Katan take back Mandalore.

I just think there is no way Mando gives Baby Yoda to Ahsoka. The whole premise revolves around Mando and Baby Yoda together, and I think they will be together until practically the end of the series.
I’m guessing Ahsoka will have her own reasons for not taking the Child: She isn’t a Jedi anymore, she has a mission of her own she must go on that won’t be safe for a baby, or some other reason.

Perhaps she tells him she knows where to find the last Jedi, and that leads to further missions for Mando. But, we also know that Baby Yoda probably wouldn’t stay with Luke (since Ben later destroys Luke’s temple and all of his students). This makes me think that Baby Yoda will either be taken back to wherever the other Yoda’s are, or permanently stay with Mando or the Mandalorians.

Or maybe Ahsoka will eventually take in Baby Yoda for good, but it definitely won’t be this season.

I think the child’s species is a Whill and Mando needs to find the Guardians of the Whills. Makes sense that a rare species that’s so helpless for decades would need a group of devoted attendants.

Now that’s an interesting idea.

I’m curious about what Lucas thinks of all this as he used to have a rule that the EU could never explore Yoda’s species. On one hand I’d like to learn more about them, but I also like having some unanswered mysteries, so I at least hope Favreau/Filo will consult Lucas if they go this direction.

The way I see it, either The Child storyline gets wrapped up this season, and the show continues with a new quest alongside the bigger Mandalorians storyline, or it somehow takes 4 seasons to find a resolution for The Child and this happens around the same time that Bo-Katan retakes Mandalore.

Revealing that Mando was raised in a cult was a really good move, explained everything. The episode did a great job of making him look naive and not as great as we might sometimes think (Bo & Co. are better than he is), though it felt a little incongruous with his portrayal in the first episode.

However, they’ve setup a really interesting future conflict. Someday, Bo-Katan will be in the same room as The Armourer, and both of them will be claiming to be the true and rightful keeper of The Way. When that time comes, which side will Mando choose?

I definitely think the inclusion of Bo Katan is the first step in a buildup towards a much wider scope in future seasons where the planet Mandalore itself will be involved. But this season is doing such a great job of portraying Mando and the child as a lovable duo and inseparable pair, I can’t see Din actually leaving him behind, but I’ve no idea how else it would work out.

I bet Din is very bitter towards the Armourer right now for suggesting there is only one way to be a Mandalorian. It’s clear he had no idea he was part of a cult, and now he’s realising that Mandalorian armour is earned, instead of it being a birthright.

I’m curious about Din’s family. Their robes looked really nice. Were they wealthy? Is it possible after rescuing him from the battle droid, they had the opportunity to reunite him with at least some of his family who may have survived, but instead they kept him to increase their own numbers? I just feel there is more to the story.

I think it’s significant that Bo-Katan extends Din a helping hand out of the water that closely resembles when he was rescued as child. She could be “rescuing” him again from his current dogma. Who better than Ahsoka to talk with Din about leaving an organization over dogmatic ideals.

Thanks. I can personally relate to Ahsoka’s story, and I’d like to see at least part of Din’s character arc contain a similar eye opening as he comes into his own.

I’m really curious what the deal is with character ages in this series.

Katie Sackoff is 40 and Pedro Pascal is 45. Bo-Katan seemed to be at least in her 20’s during the clone wars, meanwhile Din looked like he was barely 10 in his flashback (though I guess they haven’t confirmed when that took place). They probably could have aged her up a bit with make-up and some grey hair mixed in. Not a big issue for me personally, but it’s kind of funny to compare and contrast how characters in the Star Wars Universe age.

Well, Bo-Katan should be roughly 45-50 and Din would be roughly 35-40, so it’s not too far off even though Pascal is technically older. Plus, Padme ruled a planet at age 14 and Luke/Leia were only 19 in ANH, so for all we know Bo-Katan could have been in her late teens during the Clone War. And people do age differently depending on their lifestyles, and Bo-Katan was of a noble house while Din seems to have been living pretty rough since he was a child. So I think it all ads up reasonably well.

At least we’re not dealing with Legends aging where Luke, Leia and Han didn’t seem to age at all for decades after ROTJ.

Bo-Katan was supposed to be around Obi-Wan’s age and he’s been dead for about ten years at this point. Also, Boba Fett should be around Din’s age yet he seemed to be much older in Chapter 9 (assuming that’s not actually Rex we saw). It doesn’t bother me all that much but I did notice that too. I suppose falling into the sarlac takes it’s toll and Mandalorians tend to age slower than most humans.

Ima be honest… I wasn’t a fan of this episode. It was decent, but nothing stood out to me. The Clone Wars characters are cool in theory, but I’m worried the dark saber plot-line is going to take over the narrative. I hope this doesn’t become Siege of Mandalore #4 (how many times is Bo Katan gonna try to retake it lol).

The reason Season 1 was so great was because it was something new, with original characters and original stories. This felt more like New Mandalorians show up and fights Stormtroopers for 30 mins. I thought Chapters 9 and 10 did an amazing job recapturing the originality of the first season, but this Chapter fell flat unfortunately.

I pretty much agree with you. Still liked the episode well enough but, for me, characters from The Clone Wars showing up is the least exciting thing that could have happened.

Of course the irony here is that it’s really just us SW geeks that can be excited or annoyed at them bringing in EU characters. F.ex. I share my Disney+ account with my mother (who’s a very casual OT fan) and whenever I ask her about the latest episodes it never even occurred to her that some characters were from other series until I mention it. As far as she was concerned regarding chapter 11 it was just fun to see other Mandalorians that were allowed to take off their helmets and since it added to Din’s story she enjoyed the episode. The name Ahsoka means nothing to her so its just the name of a “new” character to her.

I personally think Favreau did a really good job at incorporating Bo-Katan into Din’s character development, while also referring to stuff that matters to CW/Rebels fans. We know what the darksaber is, but to others its just a setup for a future plot-thread.

That’s true… I didn’t think of it from that perspective.

I loved this episode! And it had little to nothing to do with seeing cartoon characters brought to live action.

I just thought it was a great story with a super cool new planet to see and really fun action and characters. I loved seeing Din interact and react to meeting new mandalorians who don’t follow the (same) way. It didn’t really matter that I knew who they were.

While I do enjoy the Filoni cartoons (especially Rebels), I am a bit concerned that he’s bringing in so many of his characters all of a sudden. I liked The Mandalorian being it’s own thing. I don’t mind some minor crossovers but I can easily see these things taking over and running away with the show.
