Hmm, I wonder if there’s any chance at all that the regime change for IX influenced that scene being pared down. Probably not, right?
And this project is finished as far as I’m concerned, it’s just that discussion of that deleted scene started up in here.

Hey Hal, I was wondering since you took the blue smoke effect for Snoke’s death why did you not take the eyes? Just curious as to your thoughts on it.
After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Just personal preference. The smoke was a very subtle background detail, and the eyes seemed too weird. The only other time someone has those eyes briefly us Anakin.
And as it turns out, my TROS edit doesn’t go quite as far as the original to hit home that Snoke is a literal conduit for Palpatine.
Real answer, though: just personal preference.

^ Thank you , you did a lot of work on this and it shows ! I enjoyed it very much . Mix in the Kylo and Rey ending using TROS footage at the end as another user on here has done , and this would make for a perfect conclusion of the sequel story for me . I watched the 720p tiny encode version and it was a bit dark , but I am guessing the higher resolution ones don’t have this problem. I love what you did with Canto Bight the most . It really moves the story along at a better pace and no longer feels like a scene out of Fantastic Beasts from the Harry Potter universe ! Good job !

I downloaded this today. Listening to your commentary as I write this, I laughed my ass off when you called Snoke an emperor clone and then followed it up by saying “not literally ofcourse”.
I appreciate each edit you made, but I love hearing someone understand the movie and its intentions. Normally people dismiss the movies message but you really hit the nail on the head, especially with your comments on luke.

Sorry for randomly bumping the thread again, i will say, this version of the movie is the version i will watch for life, my only issue (and i know it’s just stupid to even care about in the long scheme of things) is, i would have loved to hear palpatine’s voice say ‘find me’ when Kylo was in the Crait base, i think Poppasketti had that in his Rekindled version. It’s only a small gripe, it in no way makes or breaks this edit but i thought id mention it.

It’s a fair thing to want. I know if his and my edits become more like each other there’d be nothing left. I personally feel like that’s a little further than I want to go, but it would be easy to learn how to drop it in yourself if you don’t mind the exercise.

Just reuploaded a fixed version of V4. No creative changes have been made, and I corrected an issue in which the Finn-Rose deleted scene as they head to Crait had the dialogue misaligned. Not a huge deal but it needed fixing. I fully intend this to be the final release.

Hal I know you intend for this to be the final version of your TLJ, but… TRoS shows that Luke’s X-Wing is intact, which contradicts how in TLJ that was shown to have one of its wings missing. Do you plan on going back to that shot and adding in a wing onto Luke’s X-Wing for consistency with TRoS?
