Fortunately the line doesn’t feel like a cut off, it just has a kind of awkward … pause between Poe’s line and the person that says “For Skywalker.” I would almost try to add someone to say “roger” or something to fill that gap and then the “for Skywalker.”

Ah, I didn’t even realize it isn’t the full thing. Still nice to see a smoother, longer shot that includes the three Resistance ships.

Hal I’m sure you already listened through that whole mess of Disney Infinity Poe Dameron lines, but the shouted “Defensive formation!” at 11:08 and “The faster the better!” at 11:20 seemed like they could be maybes to my ear?
Tonality and vocal quality could easily cause it to not work like the TFA lines, I’m sure… But just a thought. Or just use some of that grunting improvisation at the beginning. Heh.
I think it really does work the way you laid it in with the new shot and doesn’t require full removal of Poe’s line, even if a suitable addition can’t be found.

I just can’t forget the stupid look on his face when he says, “You’ll be safe. I promise.”
Yes, safe on a barren planet as a indentured servant, always desperate for food and fighting for survival.
It just makes zero sense, man. Of course the only explanation, that doesn’t require you to bend over backwards to explain it, is that her parents were selfish people who did not care about her safety.

Honestly, I think it thematically makes WAY more sense if Rey’s parents were still just selfish people. That way she has to break the cycle of abuse the same way she has to break the cycle of Sith succession.

It was a way of making it about important families and also not inherited… but done in the most confusing, contradictory, and unsatisfying way.
