My apologies, I thought I mentioned that I know and understand that Hal is happy with the current choice. I was just posting something I had thrown together for posterity due to my screw up with the link when it was being talked about. I have nothing but total support, admiration and appreciation for Hal and this fan edit, and the choices that have been made. I’m sorry if I ruffled any feathers.
I mean, that’s fine, it’s just that there’s also a thread specifically for TROS music replacement ideas and also a general TROS edit ideas thread, and Hal has said repeatedly that he’s not changing it yet people keep pestering him in this thread about it. If he’s made up his mind, about it, then take it to one of the other threads where someone else might like the idea and use it in their edit.
Which isn’t exclusive to the music thing, people keep pestering him about every change that they want that he’s said no to, which makes this thread a slog to try and keep up with.
I dunno, I’m probably just being a curmudgeon. I’ll bow out of this thread once again until the edit is finished, I’m clearly just going to keep getting annoyed because this isn’t the first time I or someone else has said these things and we’re ignored every time.
I’m sorry if I have suggested some reconsiderations that have already been set in stone. If I’ve made a suggestion about something, it’s because I have not seen the message saying the edit is solidified already. (And I can understand how annoying that would be.) Sorry that I’ve only suggested stuff to be changed or complained about edits. Either way, I feel that’s the only legitimate input I can provide. But I recognize I’m just saying words and don’t have the talent to actually put in any work a lot of you guys into this. I want this edit to be as good as it can possibly be so Hal’s trilogy is perfect. Don’t mean to cause drama here or bog down the conversation if this recent stuff is because of my antics, lol. It is Hal’s edit, after all, not mine.

Can we get a shot of his hand on the accelerator or an interior shot of them jumping to light speed or something? It feels way, way too rushed without showing them making the jump.

I may not be recalling this correctly, but was it removed for the music cue/timing on removing the jumping TIES? I admit I don’t recall it for sure, but something in the back of my mind says it has to do with music timing.

Nothing was removed in that moment before the ice wall is hit. If it feels abrupt it was like that originally.
I just tried tossing in a few different shots of closeups of the lever being pulled but I can’t get the music right. That particular moment and the moment before both need to have their music and sound effects pretty much left alone. Which makes it very difficult to cram something in between. I will try again later when I have a little more time, but I wouldn’t count on it.

I can hear the cut in the shot since the ambient noise from the falcon flying through (like the wind swooshing and vibrations of the ship) cut out as soon as the shot cuts to the close up of the console.
After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Great improvement, definitely fixes the issue and flows much better.
Only thing you could maybe add, provided it sounds okay, would be the sound of the “burrrrrRRRR” / sound of lightspeed revving up, as Poe is pulling the lever down.

I think it’s a great start for that shot. I do agree with some of the comments of maybe making his face a tad bit less transparent. I know the footage you used for Adam Driver that works pretty good, but his hair is a bit too flat. If possible, I would blow dry his hair a little bit to add some volume to it. It would help sell it I think.
But great start once again. Your work is amazing. So please, stop being so distracted with “real” work to support yourself and your family and cave into our needs! 😄

Jonh! Good to hear from you. I agree its a good start, but his head seems like it was smooshed onto his body like play-doh, like his head and neck don’t mesh.
Here’s another version of the extra lever shot. I extended Chewie’s grown, which hopefully works, and used a different piece of buffer audio from earlier in the scene that doesn’t have the wind that was causing issues.

It looks like the source of Driver’s head is the same Idkartist used, except there’s very little movement. In his clip, Driver did a head nod, making it look as if he was allowing Rey to take the Skywalker name.

I gotta say that in the end, having his head on Luke’s farmboy body doesn’t look that bad in the end. Like Hal, I feel a little bit of touch up can be done like having him nod towards Rey, but overall, well done, jonh!
