Inspired by the discussion in “What are the Themes of the Star Wars Movies?”.

What are your favourite themes in each film?

The Phantom Menace- Anakin is Free

Attack of the Clones - Yoda and the Younglings

Revenge of the Sith - Anakin’s Dream

A New Hope - Binary Sunset

The Empire Strikes Back - Rescue from Cloud City/Hyperspace

Return of the Jedi - Darth Vader’s Death

The Force Awakens - The Scavenger

The Last Jedi - The Last Jedi

The Rise of Skywalker - We Go Together

Rogue One - Guardians of the Whills Suite

Solo - Lando’s Closet

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

The Guardians of the Whills suite is so gooooood.

People don’t talk a lot about Giacchino’s score for that movie but it’s really one of my favorites.

I agree. It’s such a beautiful track. To think he only had four weeks to write the score for the movie too. It’s really remarkable as quite honestly I find it to be one of the best scores of the Disney era by far!

I feel the opposite about Giacchino’s score. It’s probably my least favorite of the Star Wars scores, just a pale imitation of John Williams’s score for ANH. John Powell’s score for Solo is the true underrated score in my opinion.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX

I’ve not really listened to John Powell’s score for Solo by itself honestly. I’ll have to give it a shot. Haha

Phantom Menace a Tie between Anakin’s theme and the Duel of the Fates.
Attack of the Clones Across the Stars
Revenge of the Sith Battle of the Heroes, reprise of Throne room and end titles
Star Wars Chasm Crossfire, and Binary Sunset and Throne Room and End titles.
Empire Han and Leia’s Theme, the battle in the snow, Yoda’s theme, the asteroid field theme.
ROTJ The Return of the Jedi, Luke and Leia, the chorus when Luke and Vader duel.
Force Awakens Jedi Steps and Binary Sunset, Scherzo for X-wings.

Honestly the scores for star wars 1977 and empire strikes back 1980 are two of the best ever recorded for a film. There really are no bad songs or themes. I played the albums back to back so many times on vinyl.

I also probably played my arista records set the anthology a hundred times.

My complete list, with one or two from every album.

TPM - ‘Queen Amidala and the Naboo Palace’ (contains Anakin’s theme and the arrival on Coruscant music)
AOTC - ‘Love Pledge and the Arena’, which also contains Across the Stars.
ROTS - John Williams really outdid himself with this soundtrack. I don’t want to choose, but maybe ‘Enter Lord Vader’ and ‘The Immolation Scene’

STAR WARS - ‘Inner City’ and ‘The Desert and the Robot Auction’
TESB - ‘The Battle in the Snow’ and ‘Lando’s Palace’. The other greatest SW soundtrack.
ROTJ - ‘Luke and Leia’ and ‘The Emperor’

Rogue One - ‘Your Father Would Be Proud’ and ‘Guardians of the Whills suite’
Solo - ‘Train Heist’

TCW - ‘The Clones’ and ‘Burying the Dead’
Rebels - ‘It’s Over Now’ and a handful of the unreleased s4 music.
TM - ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘The Baby’

TFA - ‘Rey’s Theme’
TLJ - ‘The Rebellion is Reborn’ and ‘Peace and Purpose’
TROS - ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ and ‘A New Home’

I very much enjoyed John Williams contributions to the Solo Score while watching the film.
Though i never purchased the album or have listened to them since. I guess its another film i have to buy the score for.

I used to have a taped cassette of ESB and listen to it all the time. The best theme (from the best the score) is The Asteroid Field but Yoda’s theme is also very nice. I used to get really confused about all the extra Hoth music before I knew how the film was scored.

This is one of my favourite videos on YouTube. It really shows just how instrumental the music is to Star Wars.

Thanks BB-Rey, that’s a great video. It’s a pleasure to listen to John Williams music by itself, but along with the images it’s even better

There are also videos like this which take the opposite approach to show how instrumental the music is to Star Wars!

jedi_bendu, my apologies for the delay in answering you. It’s my pleasure. I agree. I’d really love to see the full saga with just his music and the visual imagination. It would be such a fun and emotional experience I think.

It’s so weird seeing Star Wars without music and Ben Burtt’s sound design. They really are just as instrumental to the films as George’s visual storytelling.

The score for Empire is probably my favorite now. I love Yoda’s theme and the magic tree.
I could just listen to the score and imagine the movie.

Excellent choice. I’d lean The Phantom Menace as my favourite of the soundtracks but I do think The Empire Strikes Back is second in my rankings. Anakin is Free, Swim to Otah Gunga, Anakin and Group to Courscant, and Watto’s Deal/Shimi and Qui-Gon’s Talk are all amazing to me. There’s something very medieval and innocent about the soundtrack.

The more I listen to The Mandalorian score, the more I am amazed by it. There’s just so many layers. Ludwig Göransson is a genius.

As for the movies, I love the Imperial March and the tune from the asteroid field but Leia’s theme is just amazing. Rey’s theme is pretty good too, but that French horn from Leia’s theme gives all the feels.

I’m very sad that not all tracks are included in TCW S7 OST. This isn’t the OST, this is the “Best of”! Why were the other tracks unreleased?

I wonder who at Walt Disney Records is in charge of compiling these albums and arranging them for release? I just want to talk.

Seriously, where are some of the best electronic tracks from the Siege of Mandalore episodes, as well are the entire soundtracks for Star Wars rebels seasons 3 and 4?
And, really music nerdy thing, but I want the version of ‘Ahsoka Duels the Inquisitors’ with the opening that appears in the actual episode. I want it.

Yeah, I want the tracks that played during Anakin’s fake surrender, Ahsoka’s farewell to Anakin, Arrival at Mandalore, Saxon escaping to the sewers, Bo-katan vs. Almec, the death of Vaughn, Maul escaping, The interrigation with Jesse, Maul’s speech, the capture of Maul, Ahsoka talking to Mace and Yoda, TCW’s I’m so sorry, Ahsoka releasing Maul, Clones destroying escape pods, Ahsoka bringing Rex, Rex and Ahsoka escaping the Medical Bay, Maul destroying the hyperdrive, Rex and Ahsoka asking whether or not they should kill the clones, and Rex confronting Jesse.

You should ask Kevin Kiner if he can release all the tracks in episodic order.

If you want to contact him about why there are unreleased tracks from TCW, I suggest you go to this link here.: https://kevinkiner.com/contact/

Thanks! I might just do that. Don’t know if I’ll reach him or not, but it would be great to have some light shed on the issue by him personally. Also nice to thank him for all his work over the years.
