  • The Holdo maneuver is a one in a million,

This is something that needs to be retconned out as well…after the pretty visual effect wore off, everyone immediately asked “well why don’t they just ram everything if a smaller ship can take out an entire fleet in one shot.”

The “one in a million” excuse doesn’t work since they can just launch every ship over and over and over until it works. If you only need one sniper to take out an ENTIRE evil government, why waste time with waging war, just keep sending snipers.

It could be that they wanted to keep themselves on the morally pure side of rebellion in attempts to save lives rather than be constant kamikaze terrorists… context matters, right?

But if they wanted to preserve their own lives, couldn’t they just send droids to lightspeed ram ships? Droids have already been established as being intelligent enough to pilot ships on their own, so why couldn’t they just send unmanned lightspeed missiles to blow up whatever threat was in their way?

Lightspeed ramming was a dumb idea to begin with, and the “one in a million” justification only raises further questions. I agree that Finn’s line should be cut, but if I was making TLJ I would find some other way to blow up Snoke’s ship.

I mean, the movies generally treat droids as being alive, especially our main heroic characters. So, that still wouldn’t work.

And even if they did, that would still paint them more as terrorists and make it harder for the general populace to rally and support them, even after defeating the Empire/First Order. That was decently established with Saw Gerrera in Rogue One and Rebels.

The idea behind what they do was established in A New Hope, the dangers and reasons why not to do it were illustrated, so i don’t feel like it’s as dumb an idea as presented. Especially looking at the randomness of its efficacy and the desperation that caused the tactic to be used.

Hyperspace missiles. There, problem solved.

Yes, the scrappy resistance fighters who can barely scrounge up old fighter ships will be able to perfect and develop small, single-use autopilot hyperspace engines at a quantity to overthrow the government. Because that makes more sense.

Ay carumba. Let’s move this elsewhere.

I agree. As for what Never said, I’d just scrap the line. Simple and clean.

What do you think of this small allusion I added to Rey v Kylo, currently theres not enough during the fight in my opinion but I think snippets like this work really well and adds to the scene.

Well, there’d be that snippet followed by a long gap with no music, another DOTF snippet, then the existing score. I think it’d be better with just what you’ve already done.

What about the music that LILLIAN used in his clip? I’m not sure if I said his name right.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

I feel pretty settled about the level and method of including DOTF in the duel. It’s noticeable but subtle, brief, and leads into existing music after a gap with no score.

Playing a little more with the Vader Castle idea. I am at the office and using GIMP … not great with it. So this is ROUGH.

The thought is to make it way in the background and have atmosphere distortion. We can see the castle since its on top of some cliffs to give it alleviation. Granted, this is super rough concept and would need some serious touch up on the video. But having it way in the back, distorted with atmosphere but “we” can see the shape of it would help sell it.

The location of it seems right since it is far away and not “looming over them/us” since watching all the clips, angles, etc., there isn’t a real way to make it “suddenly” appear close to us in context of the Mustafar Minute. Having it behind Kylo grasping the Wayfinder allows us to see it, but at a distance, so it doesn’t “interfere” with anything.

It needs softer edges, probably lowered a bit and better coloring to match the atmosphere … but could be doable.

Sorry my writing skills suck.

the gap isn’t that big and could be filled with the right music if found.

Hey guys ! I understand why you would like to use DOTF during this fight since it was in the advertisement for the movie but imo, it isn’t really fitting story-wise. To me the purpose of this fight is to show Rey’s descent towards the dark side with her eventually stabbing a weaponless Kylo. So I made a quick try to rescore the scene with this “Dark Rey” theme made by Levente Kovacs on YT and I really like how it turned out. What do you think ?

I’d rather just leave it how it is this feels like too much.

Duel of the fates from Solo works as small allusion.

I agree it’s quite a change but it helps with giving a meaning to the fight imo.

What you added personally just doesn’t fit, I’m not opposed to finding the right track.

I got another edit suggestion. Is it possible to make the blanket ,that Rey is using to bury the lightsabers ,black? Ben Solo’s clothes 😉

Yeah, like I said, I’m pretty set on the music being what it is at present.

And that’s an interesting idea to use Ben’s clothes! Not sure how doable it would be, I really am not sure.

Someone could use VFX to recolor the cloth black, possibly.

Phantom Menace - Playful Theme (Droid Banter Scene on Endor)
Concept: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yh2VtbY2rg
Think this works as a nice call back to EP1, tried to make it subtle; I personally just really wanted a bunch of little music ques from prequels in this last film.

Kinda cute. Subtle enough.

Isn’t that Jar Jar’s motif? When I hear that I remember him feeling petty okie day after his brisky mornin’ munchin’.

I think that little scene is better without music. In this movie, having points like that to just have a little gag outside the main action without music helps a little to slow the pace. I hope I’m not being petty but I think it was a good call not to score that moment in the first place.
