Here’s Luuke (impersonating Luke) on Ach To, no longer referencing Leia having known the secret. He just calls Rey out on it, like “So what? You’re still you.”
I added a shot right after Luke sits down so Rey can be seen (sort of) turning her head, so let me know if you feel that works.
I think this is a very welcome change for a Rey Palpatine version of the edit.

I don’t know where you head it at with a Rey Nobody version, so I can post this in the other thread if you prefer, but I revisited the “Just Rey” edit I did a couple of months ago and made a few tweaks with fresh eyes and ears. I think this is best version yet? It’s also master quality and the link is downloadable.

Cool! I’m planning a regular Rey Palptine version first, then a Rey Nobody version whenever the pieces are ready for it. In my head, I’m gonna think of the first as my canon. I would’ve preferred her to have remained a “””nobody””” but this particular film seems shaped by her new heritage. But I don’t mind allowing for both. I can imagine randomly selecting which one to play even.
But even for Rey Nobody, unless it’s near unanimous, I think it’s stronger to keep the original final line.

i think “just Rey” could fit really well in the “Rey Palpatine” version, i think she grew over the fact that she needs a last name, she already found a family in her new friends, and “there are things stronger than blood”, i do not hate “Rey Skywalker”, but i think “Rey Nobody” fits better with her character in any case.
If the original movie was “Rey Nobody” all along, i think “Rey Skywalker” would be a good ending to that story, she found her family there, but in “Rey Palpatine”, the whole deal is about she growing past family titles and heritages.

If only it were feasible to have multiple combo versions without taking up countless GBs of precious space. I sincerely invite anyone interested to make even just slight changes to this edit and putting it out there if they’d like.

This is really good! But what lines did the “Just Rey” come from? It sounds a touch unnatural. I’m 100% on the Rey Nobody Train, so if you need help smoothing out the audio, I’d love to help.

I think I agree. That “Just Rey” is so well done, but after seeing the alternate angle for “Rey Skywalker” I feel like it’s the definitive ending. I see it less as her just taking the name and more as her desire to carry on the legacy.

Seeing as around 75% of dialogue is said off camera in this movie can’t you add the “just” part off camera and the cut to Rey saying “Rey”?

Honestly, I cannot even tell this is not the theatrical cut of the film. That is how seamless this edit is…bravo Hal!

It is simple, but I like it. Anything that helps eliminate the problematic “Goonies” macguffin is never a bad thing.
Maybe you could still include the shot of Rey looking at the Death Star. If we have the dialogue, we can have her say “I feel it”.
