Me too! Me too! (Would actually love to check out all three prequel edits…)

Thanks in advance!

Watched this again today, first time seeing V6. The smallest possible quibble to note: At 1:42:58, where it cuts to Padmé in the sand, there’s a vestige of Anakin’s awkward moaning from the snippet that was cut from the duel scene. Probably not even worth the effort of pointing it out, haha.

Anyway, huge fan and have collected all of your Star Wars work. Quite enjoyed your take on LotR as well.

Hahaha, fair enough. I blame it on the quarantine; more time for random overthinking.

HAL, Thank you for the edits, and the selections on your GD page. I’m currently watching The Approaching Storm. I have a question about it: I downloaded the 720p. The picture has no bars and the image is long, vertically. Did I download the wrong file? I didn’t see any other options for 720p.

Yeah the encoder didn’t include the empty black areas to bring it to 2.35:1. So technically it isn’t 720p, sure. But that sounds like you haven’t done anything wrong.

Yes. I downloaded the files, I & II, both in 720p. I loaded them onto a flash drive, and played them, back-to-back, on the same blu-ray player. I played fine; II is stretched. I’m running II through Handbrake to see if it makes a difference.

I’ll compare the two when I have a chance.

I am no closer to figuring out what is going on. I have the 720p of your I & II on the same flash drive. There are four devices into which I plugged in said USB: tv1=1080p, tv2 720p, Blu-Ray1 and 2 are both Sonys–one is an upgrade to the other. When I play CoD on any of the four devices there is no problem; they all display it with bars on top and bottom. When I play TAS on the tvs there is no problem, but on the blu-rays the picture takes up the entire screen making the images too tall. From what I can tell both movies’ display specs are nearly identical. The only difference is 2p between them–CoD is 1280x544, TAS is 1280x546. Any ideas?

HAL, I almost forgot, when I downloaded III, LoE, I received a bunch of .zip files. How do I work them to make them into a movie?

Author

From Google Drive? It should download it just as the files, or maybe as one zip file. Try extracting the first zip file and see if they all unzip into one folder with the contents.

And I’m sorry, but I don’t know why your player is having trouble interpreting how to display them. Maybe those two lines of pixels are enough to make it think it needs to stretch to fill? I don’t know. 😕

Regarding II, TAS, the 2 pixels made the difference. I ran it through Handbrake and resized it at 544 instead of 546. It worked. The picture is now the same across all devices. As for the zip files, my mistake was attempting to download the entire 720p file as compressed. It was fine when I downloaded the separate files. Thanks for the great work. Watching II now.

Hal-9000 Can I please get a link to your edit of the prequels?

I read somewhere in the forum, that someone tried to upscale the deleted scenes to match the rest of the movie. Some scenes looked very promising, but I can’t find the forum post anymore.
Was there any progress on this or are the deleted scenes still in lower quality? I don’t know exactly which Version of Episode 1-3 I have.

If there is an accompanying text file it should list what version you have. The deleted scenes have not changed since (I believe) V3. Nothing solid has surfaced yet to supplant them, though there are a few potential things being worked on. But, for now, I don’t think you’ve missed anything big.
