I think that the idea that best friends can’t bicker is hilarious. I bicker constantly with some of my closest friends.

Option A = original comp with the newer model, now with an adjusted path to smooth it, and sped up the light speed jump.

Option B = snooker’s 2nd pass, now more integrated by adding motion blur, heat distortion, and making the engine glow more blue.

Option C = a recreation of snooker’s original pass, which had the Falcon slowing and making a wider turn to jump. It’s not exactly the same, I made a few small adjustments.

Option D = craziness.

Personally, I like the B better, I don’t know, the model looks more similar to the hawk, the one in version A, it is very fine.

I think that in all versions, the presence of the farm fails, because it makes the falcon seem small …

what do you think, or eliminate the farm, or insert a more distant one …

People were discussing moving the chess scene to the end of the movie. This way it shows that the whole crew went with Rey to tatooine.

I much prefer this delivery. I get why JJ went for a happier/prouder take for his triumphant ending, though. Unfortunately I don’t think cutting from her smiling in the original shot to her mouth open in the BTS shot quite works.

It makes me wonder - why does this crying take even exist? Obviously they probably do a lot of takes to have plenty of material to work with in editing, but it doesn’t fit tonally with the ending we actually got. Why would she just start crying while talking to this old woman? I originally assumed she was supposed to be choked up with joy for her found family, but seeing it again that forced smile and then the tear seem like sadness. Was this scene going to be a more emotional funeral for Ben and Leia or something? I guess we’ll never know.

Didn’t seem hostile at all to me. The reveal that Poe used to smuggle slave-mined drugs is perfectly deserving of the brief shock that Finn and Rey have, but Poe quickly dissolves the tension by pointing out exactly what you yourself just pointed out, and it really isn’t much of a problem after. Friends don’t get along all the time, especially in tense situations or when secrets are involved, and there’s still enough camaraderie and weak jabs between the two to sell their relationship as a real friendship. They do have a confrontation near the Death Star II about Poe’s leadership, but it’s resolved the next time they’re together and is an incredibly basic trope of storytelling.

In contrast, to use another Star Wars as an example, Anakin’s constant heated arguments with Obi-Wan and Padme in the prequels are incredibly uncomfortable to watch and make their “friendships/love” completely unbelievable.

If this is the same take neerb placed into the edit a few pages back (replaced the audio and kept the same video), then I think it works well! You don’t need to change any shots.

I honestly got the impression that the tear was genuine. Watching the BTS footage, Daisy really put her soul into this movie.

Definitely this. That emotion works well as Rey’s for our purposes, but irl it was Daisy’s bittersweet goodbye.

I’m glad there was support around Option A, and I can make that available along with any other versions people want, but I think I agree with DominicCobb and others’ feedback that the Falcon was a bit small and receded too quickly. So for this version, I made the Falcon bigger, recede slower, and matched as best I could snooker’s motion in the back half of Option B. I also increased the length of the lightspeed streak so its more prominent.

I meant forced in the sense that it seemed like it was difficult for Rey the character to smile. It’s excellent acting, no doubt, I didn’t mean to suggest it was forced in that sense.
