The Death Star has to explode in ANH. It’s the climax image that musical cue without the thing blowing to smithereens. We may not be blowing it up completely, but the explosion should still be explosive, with all the same momentum.
Anyway let’s talk about music. Now there’s nothing really “wrong” with the OT’s music, besides the absence of the Imperial March in ANH, something easily fixed. However, what if we opened our minds and considered making some slight alterations anyway. Namely, I’m talking about giving each of the three main heroes a theme. Leia already has one, and Han has one Williams composed for Solo that isn’t used in the Saga. The only one entirely missing a theme is Luke, as his was hijacked to serve as the series theme when it outlived his story. I wonder if it would be possible to reverse engineer a theme for him from Luke and Leia. Like, something similar but still distinct from Luke and Leia. Like how Han Solo and the Princess kinda sounds like Leia’s theme (and Marion’s from Indiana Jones…) but isn’t. These character themes wouldn’t need to play every time they’re onscreen, but in pivotal character moments, first appearances, and reveals. Something to think about.
