I really hate to lose Klaud, though 😞

I feel your pain, but he is a necessary loss if we are to implement your wonderful chess idea!

On that note, Hal, since we go from Palpy, to hyperspace, to chess, then to the giant iceburg… Could we perhaps cut out the middle man and have a VFX shot of the falcon exiting hyperspace straight to the iceburg? 🤔

Could be. That shot would need to be the new start of the sequence, immediately after Palpatine, whether hyperspace or no.

And yeah, I don’t wish to remove Klaud but I think it’d be cleaner that way.

Regarding the Skywalker Saber, we talked about adding some kind of effect to it to make it feel slightly different, though we never really pinned down an effect that just clicked with anyone.

Coming in REALLY late to this idea…but this is a great idea!

how about a Blue unstable effect?

It’s consistent with the damage it sustained from TLJ and could be used to nicely reflect Rey’s unstable emotional state for the first half of the movie whilst also foreshadowing that Ben will eventually wield it later?

The weapon then serves as a metaphor to demonstrate how their paths are connected and destined to converge as it is reflective/a blend of them both?

I’d like Klaud in the film only if someone makes a believable vfx scene where he’s an X-wing pilot getting shot down and exploding. That’s the only Klaud scream I want to hear.

heil Palpatine!

Very minor, but I think it would be nice if the Sith Troopers had clone voices from the prequels/Clone Wars, not sure if theres a way to explain it but would be such a simple little thing to include.

I like the idea of making the Skywalker Saber unstable like Kylo’s.

That would mean changing the visuals and sound of the saber during the whole movie, i don’t think that is something posible or pratical for a fan edit.

Is not as easy as changing a saber color (at least that is what i think).

I find your lack of faith disturbing

A thought has occurred to me, is posible to have both “Just Rey” and “Rey Skywalker” in the film.

Replacing “And… i’m all the jedi” with “And… i’m just rey” we get rey finally accepting who she is and how unnimportant her origin actually is, after accepting her own “value” and defeating palpatine, she considers herself worthy of the name skywalker .

No, but it’s totally doable by someone skilled enough who’s willing to put the time in to do it.

But it is a big ask, as excellent of an idea I believe it to be. One of those “wish I knew how to do it” things…

I question whether it’d be a good thing anyway. But… while I wouldn’t ask anyone to (and sincerely don’t have a strong preference), I can’t imagine not using it if someone did (and it was good).

I may not care about it, but if someone did enough to execute it effectively, fair enough and I’d use it. I would even do the audio. Maybe adding in some Kylo Ren-ish crackling throughout. Not all the time nonstop but where you’d expect to hear it in movie parlance.

If the Falcon chess scene is moved to the end of the movie, it gives something of a tangle with Klaud.

Either the earlier scene begins with “hey Klaud hows that air conditioner coming,” or with the better starting point of Poe in the cockpit directing things. The shot of the Falcon heading toward the iceberg could be extended to serve as the longer, take a breath establishing shot that the hyperspace shot used to provide. Without that initial intro of Klaud or his continued presence in the lightspeed skipping sequence which I will not feature, he’d be too weird to have just in what’s left. I guess he could still appear at the end as a weird rando for Merry to hug, though.

I mentioned in the other thread how the chess scene could possibly be split in two, keeping a bit of the scene at the beginning and paying off the joke at the end. I think there’s actually several ways to do this, for example you could keep Chewie perusing the board and Poe getting impatient, then the proximity indicator and them turning off the board anyway (cut all talk of him cheating). Then at the end have the accusation of cheating and the argument when the Falcon has already landed on Tatooine.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Decided to make my own personal crawl today just in case I’m personally not happy with whatever we end up going with. I’ve based it on what a couple of other people have said so far.

Nice looking crawl, Jar Jar Bricks, was this done in blender?

Has there been a discussion yet on how to preserve Chewie’s reveal that he’s alive be removing scenes or re-ordering them?

Simple, cut the reveal from the original film, delaying the reveal to when Rey senses that he’s alive on the destroyer.

Look on Dom’s thread, I think he already figured something out.

Yeah, I saw that, and while I think it works, I also don’t know how the scene later on where Kylo Ren and Palpatine had their talk was originally placed can work well without it to help break up some scenes.

Is there a clip? I can’t find anything.

Honestly the change was so straightforward I didn’t think it warranted a clip.

Without it the film goes from Rey talking to Finn to the Falcon landing on Kef Bir. You don’t miss anything.
