Star Wars: The Clone Wars To Return With New Episodes — Page 7

Did anyone else get a Blade Runner vibe from the music in the latest episode? It was different from anything we’ve heard in any SW content before, and at times it sounded exactly like something Vangelis might have made.

Yes, I got that too!! I think there was a variation of Yoda’s theme, which, played slowly on synths, sounds remarkably like the the main Blade Runner theme. Liked the score a lot in this episode, very unlike anything Star Wars, as you say

Indeed! The thought crossed my mind while watching the episode that somebody who worked on this arc probably watched alot of Blade Runner. Which an intentional nod to Blade Runner and Vangelis or not, it was neat nonetheless.

The blade runner-esque score really gave the scenes an eary feeling and sense of dread. Really well done.

It seems like Kiner scored each “act” differently. There’s definitely a Vangelis vibe to the first part, and then Williams kicks back in for Order 66, and then it sort of becomes the Tron: Legacy soundtrack for the next act.

It’s also, looking at what happened in this episode, seeming like Filoni rewrote this final arc as kind of a riff on the Disney Era movies. Episode 1 had a LOT of The Last Jedi in it, and this one is very clearly pulling from Rogue One.

God, can you guys just imagine if the show hadn’t been cancelled and we’d have seen these episodes pre-Rebels, with no idea if Ahsoka or Rex make it through alive?

It was intense enough knowing they make it, but if we didn’t? Wow.

Watching the last 4 episodes together was absolutely incredible. Best Star Wars experience I’ve had in a long time.

I had to laugh that the one scene where they made a direct ROTS scene connection (the holographic briefing) was one of the scenes that both Hal and I replaced with an earlier deleted scene. So any attempt to use our edits in a broader multi-edit would probably require cutting the initial duplicate ROTS lines and starting right as Ahsoka walks in.

That was an awesome end to The Clone Wars! The last 4 episodes tied everything in perfectly.

This whole show went from, “Eh!”; to, “Holy Crap,” the last few seasons; to “Holy $4!..” the last few episodes.

Spoiler Alert!!!
This is a great tie-in for everything. Revenge of the Sith is woven in perfectly and Rebels gets a reference too.
That shot of Vader walking away from that rusted/weathered Clone helmet symbolizes, literally, the death and end of The Clones Wars as he (we) once knew it. A man turned into a machine. A shell of his former self. The War was won, it was finally over, but at what cost!
Spoiler Alert!!!

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

Wow. Asohka murders EVERYONE in the last 8 episodes. She kills 3/4 of the Pikes and all of her troops. But at least she seemed to feel bad for the clones (?).

I mean, the Pykes chose to be criminals into the syndicate. I doubt the entire species is grouped up into one crime syndicate, there are many other paths the Pykes she kills could have walked.

The Clones had no choice, not to mention they were her close friends, who repeatedly showed loyalty for her despite her leaving the Republic. Then they lost all their identity and were forced to attack her. It’s very honorable to not kill them. Actually makes me want a fanedit cutting any killing of clones by Yoda and Obi-Wan.

I was thinking the same thing when I was watching. I couldn’t believe how much tension I felt, despite knowing they would survive.

Overall, I really enjoyed the whole season, especially the last four episodes. IMO, the siege of mandalore/order 66 arc was the best Star Wars content since 1983!

I may have been the only one that had this thought, but when Ahsoka and Rex were contemplating what to when all the troops were standing down in the hangar, I thought things were going to go in a lot different direction.

For a brief moment, I thought they would have the droids deactivate the hangar shields and suck all the clones out into space.

That would’ve been super dark, and probably out of character, but I thought Ahsoka was going to give herself up because she wasn’t willing to kill her clones. Rex, having to choose between Ahsoka’s life or his brothers‘, chooses Ahsoka and orders the droids to deactivate the hangar shields. Ahsoka tries to protest but it’s too late.

This was truly a special Star Wars experience for me. I’m part of the clone wars generation of star wars fans. I saw the original animated film in theaters on my 8th birthday. That was my first star wars film on the big-screen. I’m so incredibly proud of this show. It was utterly spectacular. This series has done the prequel films so much justice I cannot even explain. I showed my brother the entire series this month and we finished it off by marathoning the last 4 episodes. The loveable characters become so deep and grow so much throughout the show, and to see the finale was something truly unprecendented. I couldn’t believe the depth of storytelling, the amazing sense of dread, and how much it all felt like a film. Thank you George, and thank you Dave Filoni.

After all the years of people loathing the prequels, this show solidifies for me that those stories deserve respect. This is timeless, and required viewing for any star wars fan.

[SPOILER] My favorite moment was when Rex is given Order 66. He is shaking and crying, trying to resist killing his best friend, until he is ultimately overcome by the chip. My interpretation of that scene was that “Fives” was somehow connecting with him through the force, saving both him and Ahsoka. It was so beautiful.

I just realized that the timeline doesn’t exactly jive with ROTS. I always assumed ROTS took place over the span of several months. The last few episodes show anakin and obi-wan called to rescue Palpatine right before the siege of mandalore. That would suggest that ROTS only takes place over a couple days.

I’ve thought about that too. But it actually does work out. If you think about it, the timelines only have to match until Order 66.

The comment below this explains everything in detail.

Officially RotS has always taken place over 6 days (10 now, but that’s only to expand on how much happens during the montage epilogues)

Day 1: Battle of Yerbaba, Palpatine’s Rescue, Battle of Mandalore

Day 2: More Battle of Mandalore, Political maneuvering on Coruscant,
Anakin is appointed to the council
Anakin meets Palpatine at the Opera where he learns grevious is on utapau

Day 3: Obi-wan heads to Utapau,
Maul is captured.

Day 4: Obi-Wan kills Grevious, Anakin’s Fall and Order 66

Day 5: Empire Day, Palpatine declares his new empire, Obi-Wan vs Vader

Day 6: The twins are born, the decision is made to go into hiding

Day 7-10: Yoda and Obi-Wan head off for their new assignments, Ahsoka and Rex go into hiding, Vader gets up to shit, Padme’s funeral happens, Vader does more shit, Vader and Sidious stare at the death star

Within the next year:
Vader finds Ahsoka’s lightsaber(s) at the venator crash site, she is removed from the list of Jedi survivors.

So padme is supposed to already be 8-9 months pregnant when we first see her in ROTS?

It’s scary knowing how happy Anakin and Obi-Wan are at Yerbana… to think where they’ll be in a week.

Using the audience’s knowledge of Revenge of the Sith as a sort of ticking clock for this story was so incredibly genius. Filoni in general is an amazing storyteller. I’m about to rewatch rebels, that show gets a bad rep, but if you look deeper into what they were trying to do with the story, its phenomenal.

Yes and I believe this has always been the case.

A few years ago Pablo Hidalgo ran a poll on Twitter asking people whether they thought Sith took place over days or months. The vote was split 50/50. The correct answer is days. He said it was the only movie where Lucas was ever super specific about the timeline of events.
