Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Redux Ideas thread — Page 70

I guess Luke was acting rashly, against his masters’ insistence. Whereas Rey is like a new Force messiah. Just different situations.

I think Rey glowing is more appropriate than a shield that doesn’t deflect anything.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Force Shield concept V1

I’ve been watching this again and I think it would work better if you used the original version of Obi Wan when he first appears as it matches up better with the shot in this scene.

It’s also odd that when Obi Wan appears he’s the only one looking directly at the camera whereas the other Jedi are all looking out of shot (toward Palpatine).

Again, this is looking so freakin amazing!
SO good, in fact, might I suggest the camera shake you’ve added to the shots of the Jedi ghosts being slightly reduced?
The only reason I’m suggesting reducing the effect is so that we (the audience) can see them a bit better. Specifically, the shot that pans from Yoda to Obi.

I agree with this. I think a glow would be better over a shield of some sort … that doesn’t really do anything since the lightening is hitting the blades.

Perfect!!!
I’ll fix it

I like moving Rey’s repeat of “nothing’s impossible” to right as she’s heading away. Seems more like she sincerely agrees with the reminder rather than petulantly deflecting it.

Yeah she seemed a little dismissive in the original, like “OK granny, whatever”.
I think all the scenes between Rey and Leia will likely need to be reworked.

Hey everyone! Love what you are doing with the content.

I am testing some footage out, it’s far from perfect right now, but wanted to get your opinion on if I should spend the time on it.

When Rey meets Kylo on the Death Star remnants. I added some Palpatine Opera music, as well as changed Rey’s eyes to turn sith when talking to Kylo.

Why? Well, when Rey first says “give it to me” Kylo gets scared, but it seems for no reason. The eye change will surprise Kylo.

P.S. Also adding a Battle of Heroes redux from Battlefront 2 to their fight.

I’ll always be a voice against Sith eyes for pretty much every character except wrinkly Palpatine. Can’t stand them. I’d love to remove them from Anakin in ROTS in every shot they’re used.

That was creepy as hell, which is probably the reaction you’d want from the audience.
I think a more refined, very subtle version would work better though.

It always amused me that during the temple massacre - at least, when we see him enter the council chamber to kill the younglings - Anakin doesn’t have the Sith eyes. It’s only when he’s on his way to kill Wat Tambor that he’s sufficiently evil to qualify. And then he has a good cry over all the dead Separatists :’(

Well since in the ST you can become a force god with little to no learning curve, might as well go all the way right?

This is why, if I could shoot new footage for it, I would love to have Anakin go to Mustafar to hunt down and kill a group of surviving Jedi.

Thanks for the input! Any suggestions on where to add the subtleness? Maybe the eyes only show once? Is the palp music in the background a good choice?

The Separatist murder should have taken place first, since Anakin probably would’ve liked to kill those guys anyway. Then once he’s got a taste for blood he can be sent to the Jedi temple. There’d have to be a reason for him to go to a lava setting after that, though, because as we all know the duel took place with lava.

I think the music is just right, as for the eyes I would recommend a faint red tint, something that would go under the radar on first viewing.

Why the Music in The Rise of Skywalker Felt Empty by Sideways.

He makes a lot of good points about the usage of certain themes in scenes where they don’t belong, and why it weakens the impact of the theme as a whole.
Interestingly enough, according to him a new recording of dual of the fates was supposed to play(the one from the trailer)in the scene where Palpatine is about to initiate the ritual"the time has come!".
This made me really think about changing up the score in a few places throughout especially seeing as it could potentially improve the film on an emotional level.

Yeah, that is a big problem. I bet a lot of thematic material was deleted or shuffled around in post, and as a result the music doesn’t quite feel right.

There’s no way that’s true. The trailer music is way too epic to be from Williams, and it wouldn’t fit the scene at all.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX

The scene itself consists of chanting that is almost similar to the duel of the fates choir, I don’t see how it wouldn’t fit.

The track from the trailer is very clearly not done by Williams. The guy is making stuff up if that’s what he said.

I think his source is the JWfanpage but from what I understood the chants in the duel trailer were collected from the original soundtrack and then mixed with trailer music.
