The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released) — Page 32

Honestly, if no one says they conjured the fleet, I’d assume it was leftovers from the Empire. No need for the relics line. Sure, it wouldn’t hurt, but as it stands it would need some work to blend properly.

I’d love to see a Disney+ series set in the distant future about a new Jedi order, and then to see it fan edited into a non-half-billion-dollar budget trilogy of movies to bring us up to Episode XII.

My stance on revising fan edits.

I’d love a still image (hell, or video) of Rey’s father with a third eye on his forehead.

Anyone feel like doing that, just for shits and giggles? I’m sure it’d make rounds online.

When Kylo holds up the Wayfinder during the opening scene on Mustafar, adding one of our patented “Find me”s would help bridge the gap between not having Palpatine in the opening crawl and his unphased determination when arriving on Exogol.

Ooh, I like that idea a lot. You almost just convinced me Mustafar should stay.

Almost.

The problem with Mustafar is that it’s not really a scene. It’s just ‘Kylo goes to a place and finds a thing he was already looking for’. For it to earn a place, something has to happen that changes a character or plot element, otherwise it could just open with Kylo arriving at Exegol.

Maybe the crawl tells how Kylo is trying to make good on his promise to end the Jedi and the Sith, and this has brought him to Mustafar to wipe out Sith cultists. When he finishes killing them, the ‘Find me’ can lead him to the wayfinder.

This would at least help give the scene some element of interest as Kylo may not have realized the wayfinder was here.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Exactly. This is why I said it almost convinced me…

…but you might have actually convinced me.

Thanks for the picture. Glad that exists.

If the crawl suggests Kylo continues to eradicate remnants of the Jedi and the Sith, finding the Wayfinder would seem to just be an accident. That could work, I suppose. Maybe. I still don’t have a problem with the scene in the first place. Nothing wrong with showing him finding it real quick; the movies don’t usually rely on the crawl too much anyway.

There is a problem with this scene because it’s the first episode of SW to open with a montage. It feels waaaay off. The opening scenes always use space and spaceships to lead us to a real scene. So the scene itself is usable (cool yet awkward as it is) but not so much for an opening.

heil Palpatine!

Yep, that’s another one of my problems with it.

It’s painfully obvious it was added because of the jarringly different musical style. I’d just use Across the Stars.

You really need to work on your tact when offering criticism, man.

I’ll be honest, I really really don’t care for Reylo, but it is undeniably really hot. We should lean into that.

Instead of Samuel Kim’s piece or even Across the Stars, I say we use Lapti Nek

I guess this might not be useful for Ascendent, but rather than try to rescore the kiss scene, I wonder if it would feel more natural if you were to place parts of that track into one or two of the previous films? Like when they touch hands in TLJ, you could replace the Force theme, which I feel gets overused somewhat in the Sequel Trilogy, with a part from the Farewell track. You could retroactively establish it as their love motif.
