To quote Palpatine, “please don’t!”

I’m assuming you mean “please don’t” entertain AbramPT’s suggestion? 😉

I just remember my Star Wars newbie friends being considerably confused by the reason behind Palpatine’s transformation in LOE. Also, TROS would provide some payoff now that we can finally witness the full power of force lightning redirection that was hinted at in ROTS.

Then again, maybe LOE simply isn’t the ROTS edit for me. Perhaps I’ll finally learn how to use video editing software and attempt my own micro-edits instead of trying to convince Hal to do all the hard work for me!!

If anything I’d say TROS clarifies the situation in a way that fits better with LOE as is. In TROS when Palpatine is rejuvenated he has the melted look, which implies that is his true visage.

Valid point! Didn’t consider that.

No disrespect intended but I really wouldn’t want to see that change reverted. The confusion you describe is exactly how I felt while watching the theatrical cut of ROTS. In comparison, the LOE version seems much more elegant to me.

This is top of my list to see. I’m amazed at how much work you put into these. Its incredible that there are people like you out there doing this to improve the films! if only I could get my hands on the raw blue screen footage.

Anyway, how does one go about getting a copy?

Hal… I don’t want to come across as a fan boy but you’ve done an amazing job on these. I just got done watching Episode II of yours and what a difference. The day before I had watched the original version. Your version is so much more enjoyable and the pace is much better. In some ways I wish, had Disney not gotten their dirty little hands on Lucasfilms, that this would be the OFFICIAL version.

I’m off to watch Episode III!

Thank you again!

Thanks for saying so, and I’m always glad to hear these are being enjoyed. Ep3 can be a doozy for people who enjoyed the first two, so I’d be curious to hear your reaction to it as well.

I watched it last night after watching the original version. Again, much better pacing. MUCH better. Everything fit much better. Being a fan of the Clone Wars and Rebels, I liked that you chopped out a lot of nonsense, and whiny Anakin, which made him feel more akin to Anakin of the Clone Wars series. Overall this is such a better version.

These for sure replace the originals for me. I haven’t gotten to watch your other cuts yet, but I plan to, including Episode I. I had a copy of “The Ancient Lore” which I thought was “OK”. But having seen your other two, I plan on seeing them all.

Again, incredible work!

So…any thoughts on making one last update to Labyrinth of Evil to make it work alongside the “Siege of Mandalore” Clone Wars finale episodes? (Specifically the explicit use of the theatrical “Plot to Destroy the Jedi” scene in TCW 7x11.)

Author

Nope!

I haven’t watched it and just haven’t really been a fan myself of TCW throughout.

Also, it would take waaaaay more time than I could possibly give it these days, as I’d have to, in all likelihood, manually piece together the video stream from nothing all over again… again. That’s why the reflection of the removed R2 toward the end has stayed: not worth it to fix.

What would be fairly easy and straightforward are audio-only changes.

I haven’t seen the new Clone Wars season, so I don’t know what all would even make sense to do if one wanted. But if it’s just audio tweaks with no corresponding video changes then it could be fun to do and be offered as an alternative track.

Is… the new season worth watching for someone who hasn’t really been jazzed by the show overall? I watched through an ‘essential viewing’ list a few years ago before TFA came out. To paraphrase Planet of the Apes, “It’s just so damn ugly.” Id honestly prefer reading the best stories it has to offer in written form.

The last 4 episodes of the season are The Siege of Mandalore and they’re the best thing the show has ever done (well, the last of the 4 airs Monday, so I guess we’ll see for sure).

And audio only won’t work in order to keep it consistent - you see the entire hologram Plot to Destroy the Jedi scene as it appears in the theatrical ROTS, complete with Ki-Adi-Mundi’s lines that Obi-Wan says in the deleted scene, and the scene continues on after it ends in the movie as Ahsoka enters the hologram conversation.

Here’s the TCW 7x11 scene. TCW final arc spoilers at the very end, after Ahsoka walks in.

I wouldn’t worry about that at all; to me, it’s just a difference of how to present the information. Not a substantial thing, certainly not enough to merit tossing the benefits to LOE of having Obi-Wan present for the conversation.

Fair enough. It just feels weird to me that the dialogue is basically repeated, but I totally understand this not being a big enough issue to change your edit over, especially if you aren’t a big TCW fan.

hi I just want to say that I loved your star wars edits thanks for making them , I really liked how you made Anakin into a likeable person and I like d the deleted scenes you used the seeds of rebellion I’ve seen version 5 and 6 of your prequel edits and also esb and rotj the scene where Dooku interrogates Luke and padme was good also you’re a talented editor its great that padmes alive in this version a plot hole fixed . You’re a great editor keep it up!

I just viewed the 720p render of the edit with the commentary track, and I appreciate the decisions you made to bring ROTS more in line with the OT and your explanations as to why you took such actions.

I will say that I could barely hear your commentary during the climactic duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan as the film’s audio overshadowed yours. Do you plan on rectifying this in future?

Hmm, probably not but I’ll try to keep that in mind in the event that I do revise things in the future. Thanks for the kind words, and I’m glad you enjoyed it overall. I guess I could’ve spot checked the audio overlay in the louder spots.

Hi Hal! Could you send me a link? por favor? 😃

Does anyone have a link to the 1080p episode 3? The drive link seems to always exceed the download quota before I can grab it. Thanks!

Try copying it to your own Drive. Hal has a FAQ sheet at the root of his shared link that assists with things like this 😉
