You’re missing the point again. The most important line, which I noticed that sc38 deleted, is “You can’t win, Darth. If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.” Obi Wan isn’t trying to win, he’s trying to delay Vader so that Luke and friends can get to the Falcon. The moment he sees Luke is okay, he lets himself be killed because he knows he’s much more useful as a disembodied voice/force ghost that can give guidance to Luke.

They didn’t delete that line, it’s still in there.

SC 38 Reimagined is prequelized junk. Vader needlessly calling his lightsaber to his hand telekinetically is proof enough of that.

Perhaps the original duel is a tad too clunky and claustrophobic. Perhaps it could do with a facelift. But this overwrought masturbatory exercise isn’t the way towards doing that.

What’s “masturbatory” about showing Vader actually use the Force? Why shouldn’t space wizards with cool space wizard powers be shown using their cool space wizard powers?

Because subtlely trumps sound and fury signifying nothing.

It signifies Vader’s high level of power and skill in Force, setting him up to be an incredibly daunting challenge for Luke to face in the future.

Ugh. I’m done with this discussion. If you can’t see the problems with that stupid CG duel, if you can’t see the problems with inserting it in a 1977 film, then you never will. Enjoy it along with Dooku vs. Yoda, Yoda vs. Palpatine, and the rest of the bright, colourful, flashy pap this shitty franchise has become.

Thanks, I will.

I personally don’t like SC-38, but Duracell’s reaction here was way too over the top. Hurling childish, petty insults at someone just for liking a fan film. I wonder why he hasn’t been banned yet.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:

My apologies for my attitude last night. Yesterday wasn’t a very happy day.

I just prefer Adywan’s re-edit, just using the existing footage to tighten it up. Granted, Obi-Wan igniting his saber first is a bit “problematic” and the prequel music doesn’t work (Purist, without music, is better), but it’s better than SC 38.

I appreciate what they did but I think that they and others miss the point of the scene, it’s not supposed to be an elaborate acrobatic fight sequence.
The scene looks completely ridiculous in context, like dropping a cracked out MTV clip into a rerun of a show from the 70s.
This is nonsensical. Juxtaposed with your prior sentence, you seem to imply that you want more “leaping, running, [and] wild swinging.”
Even taking into account prequel knowledge, how do you know that Vader is violently angry at Obi Wan? Maybe his emotions are more complex than that; he’s had 20 years to think about it. Maybe deep down he’s reluctant to engage him and he’s doing it out of duty to the Empire. Vader being cold and distant is much more consistent with his characterization in the movie and the next two movies.
I mean that if you remake that scene in that style, you might as well remake the whole movie because of how incongruous it is.

dude Anakin was a delusional psychopath who must’ve fing Hated Obi Wan dude he decapitated him imagine if that didnt happen Anakin could have been there for Padmes birth!! he friken went to the dark side and killed all those d*mn Jedi for Padme, like That’s whats probably going through his mind all of those years. the way Vader walks so mercilessly towards Obi Wan… and when Obi Wan and Vader first see each other here do u see How fing black Vader is… this scene is PERFECT LOL!

So…

Does anyone have an edit of Episode 4 with SC 38 re imagined included?

Also while I am at it I really like to include some other fan edits where they included flashbacks as Obi-Wan is explaining his father to Luke… There are some really good ones, I like this one short and simple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN74bOubUug

To me, the issue with SC38 Re is not with the choreography, but rather the cinematography. The constant shaky cam and lens flares are what take me out of it. If those two issues could be fixed, I’d be all for integrating the scene. Just look at how good this shot of the doors opening would be for an edit. Better combat, but no jarringly anachronistic cinematography.

Personally i feel like Sc-38 would fit better in a fanedit of Episode 3 as a fast forward, or as a post credits sequence
They would probably have to remove most of the prequel lines if they did that though, since it would be so clear in the viewers mind.

How was I to know your kind can’t eat sweetweed?

I think you absolutely nailed what makes it so jarring. I’d love to see a similar project done with the intention of blending in with the original film.

I remember trying to edit around those shots to include just the more seamless ones.
