On one hand I feel like the original ending with Luke is the perfect payoff for this Isolated adventure yet on the other hand the dream Sequence is better in the context of the Last Jedi.
Would be great if you released two versions to satisfy both sentiments as I’m many would like to watch this back to back with all TLJ edits.

Nah, I just don’t want Rey and Luke standing there for twenty minutes doing nothing at the exact same time the Resistance successfully evacuates D’Qar and the opening dreadnought battle take place. And given that it appears that it took this quick for the Falcon to reach Ahch-To, and that The Last Jedi takes place immediately after the end of The Force Awakens, the time zones on D’Qar are also confusing, as in the end of The Force Awakens it is likely around sunrise/sunset, while in the “Oh no” scene in The Last Jedi it is likely around 10:00 AM-2:00 PM.

I’d have The Force Awakens end with the Millennium Falcon leaving D’Qar, and then cut immediately to the Falcon in hyperspace after Finn asks Poe about Rey in The Last Jedi rather than cut to Rey giving Luke the lightsaber, implying that the Falcon has been travelling for some time to go to Ahch-To.

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

It was never implied that she stood there for twenty minutes, regardless I think having Rey meet Luke at the end of TFA gives it more closure and ties its story in a nice bow.

The Last Jedi takes place immediately after the events of The Force Awakens. Rian Johnson even said so himself. Rey only gives Luke the lightsaber after Finn asks Poe about Rey.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

I see your point but one can still assume that the battle of DQar happened while Rey was on her way to Jakku, what’s important to many though is having the possibility of watching Star Light in a “purist” version as an alternative.

But the editing of The Force Awakens makes it look like it took this quick for the Falcon to reach Ahch-To, and if you watch both movies back-to-back, it looks like Rey and Luke have been standing on the island in the exact same spots for quite a while to the point where the sky is different than in The Force Awakens; in The Force Awakens it was cloudy, and in The Last Jedi it is suddenly sunny for some reason.

Good point but I consider the sun shining as more of an “artistic” adjustment by Johnson akin to the placement of Kylo’s scar in TLJ.

I wouldn’t say it’s completely irrelevant. Many people noticed that the Luke scene had to be re-shot for TLJ and the scene did look and feel quite different in many ways from that of TFA, that’s one of the reasons I repurposed the TFA scene as a vision/dream.

I will say that this particular point of editing is a non-issue though. There’s no reason that just because two completely different scenes are intercut means that they are taking place at the same time. It could be true, but it just as easily could be false.

Any progress lately? Now after the events of TRoS, do you think you will change anything within this edit to make the trilogy more cohesive? Some have suggested the Dyad being mentioned in TFA so it is foreshadowed and isn’t so out of left field in TRoS. Anyways, I look forward to any future updates with this project. Loved the last version; keep up the great work!

I haven’t really even touched editing software in a while. I would like to foreshadow the Dyad idea, if there’s a way to do it.

Well I look forward to seeing what you accomplish now the saga is complete, once you get back on the editing horse.

One idea - There’s a new version of the main theme in the Rise of Skywalker end credits, it might be worth using that for the beginning of TFA’s crawl in place of the anemic one currently there.

JEDIT: It’s lacking the opening sting which is the main issue with TFA’s fanfare, but the Rise of Skywalker’s fanfare sting is quite strong in comparison to TFA and TLJ (which I think they just copied?). Anyway, I spliced that opening note into the TFA fanfare and I think it’s an improvement:
