As obsessive as I can get about certain things, the reality is that I can’t be steward of this metaproject forever, and so with V6 I fully intend to set the prequels down and just let whoever wishes to take up the craft going forward cull whatever they wish from them. They’ll be my ultimates, of course, but there’ll never be an end of the line.
Even if IX ends up requiring me to go back again, say if the plot crucially involves midichlorians or something, I’d probably just reckon those as V6.1.

I can assure you that there will be no mention of midi-chlorians.

Didn’t know you were in the writing room on TROS! 😉

Downloading now, I looked over the V6 changes and this really looks perfect to me. I’m excited to have this for pre 9 viewing.

Well, that certainly means a lot coming from you.

While the changes to V6 of the prequels have not been unanimously well received, I think it was worthwhile to give them another go. I’m really happy with the end result. Was it worth all that it ended up figuratively costing me? Probably not, but at least I accomplished a goal. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to halfway enjoy sitting down and watching 1 through 9 of the complete Hal9000 presentation of the saga when it’s finished. Anyone can join me. I’ll bring chee-toes.

Thanks for all your hard work. I watched V5 of 1 & 2 and they were incredible. My wife has never seen Star Wars before and when we watch the saga together I will be showing her these versions of the prequels.

Can you show her Adywan’s ANH:R, ESB:R, and RotJ:R (once the latter comes out)?

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

That’s the plan! Looking at the Coaxium Heist for Solo, undecided on R1, and then leaning towards Hal’s VII. It sounds impossible, but she doesn’t even know that Anakin is Vader, and even more clueless about the Emperor’s identity. Going to do an experiment with her, we are going to watch everything in chronological order including The Clone Wars, so I am wondering when she will pick up on these huge plot points during the show.

Anyone else getting a “download quota exceeded for this file” message when downloading V6 on Google Chrome? How do I get around this issue? Anyone?

Got the same issue, we’ll just need to wait since lots of people are downloading the file.

“Because you are a PalpaWalker?”

For those having trouble downloading - copy it to your own Google Drive with the right-click context menu. It will take some time to process, but once done, can be downloaded without limitation.

CORRECTION: I believe you also have to make another copy of it once copied to your own Drive. Only then will Google Drive recognize it as a new file.

Still get errors …

Ditto. I figured I’d grab a 1080p copy of TFA:R while I wait for LoE to become available but I’m receiving the same error. Anyone know how long the “rest period” is until a file can be downloaded again? kraahkan, your solution works wonderfully if the file size is small enough to fit on your Google Drive account, but these 1080p files are over 20 gigs and I only have 13GB available.

EDIT: Changed my P.S. requesting someone upload these to a certain P2P website after I checked and realized that they’re already there. Hah.

That’s a nice trick about copying to one’s own Google Drive. I added that to the FAQ file listed at the top of the ‘Hal 9000 SW edits’ directory.

Also, please refer to that FAQ file for a tip on another place to find these if the Google Drive is currently stalled out.

Can confirm this works. Have been using it this way since TFA:R V2

The Skywalker Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX
This is the way.

Leaning towards using The Last Jedi: Rekindled as a base and then adding some of HAL’s changes and maybe some from other edits. Will end up taking what I like most from a few different edits and making my own cut. Will probably do the same thing with mixing V6 of LoE and Revenge of the Sith: Rebalanced. Appreciate the great work from HAL and the other editors. I don’t think there’s any competition to HAL’s 1 & 2 in terms of better “theatrical” versions. To me, a SW movie needs to be at least near 2 hours long so I really appreciate the V6 of the PT HAL has made.

Hi, at 08:31 you can see (and even hear the very beginning of a word!) that Kenobi was going to speak in the elevator, but it jarringly cuts to the next scene. If it was cut just a few frames earlier before Kenobi would open his mouth it would have been perfect.

Author

No, that shot originally transitioned into R2 in the hangar. And the shot of the Jedi emerging from the elevator followed after the Super Battle Droids being fried.

If anything, you’re hearing a slight squeak or sound of R2 shuffling along.

I do have something to say about V6 that sounds a bit jarring. It’s nice that the brief shot of Grievous launching the escape pods is back, but the line that is pulled from The Clone Wars does sound very different compared to how he sounds in the rest of the movie. I think they used a slightly different modification on Matthew Wood’s voice in the show compared to Revenge of the Sith. It’s sounds far more exaggerated in the effect.

Fair. However, it is the only thing we hear of him in that particular environment.

That’s true. I did re-watched the part again, and I noticed that you also put a similar vocal sounding effect on his laugh too when looking through the pod’s window.

Hal, are you also going to release the uncompressed tracks ? I’ve just finished to sync the alternate track for TAS v6 (thanks again to Ash for rendering the file in dts quality 😉), I could do the same for LoE v6 (alternate ending version included, since I think it will be my go version and the Vader’s scream is the original one, I do prefer the less terrible russian one).

Btw, great work on v6. I really like you put back a few thinks I’m kinda fond of, but the most important thing for me is the Anakin shot inside the Temple while the Jedi are getting killed by the Clones. It’s just perfect that way. It’s very close to be the perfect edit of EpIII for me ( just miss the apartment scenes and maybe the “Sergio Leone” close up on Grievous, but they might have been tricky to incorporate in this new and better flow of the sequences). Impressive work on removing Chewie (I’m neutralto that change, but if I stay true to myself and to what I don’t like about the Sequels, I must admit that Chewie in EpIII was just dumb fanservice) and the droids (again neutral to that change, but the job is seamless).

Here his the alternate audio changelist I could try to make for v6 (considering previous v5 audio changes have been implemented in v6):

  • Added clone trooper’s “General Kenobi. General Skywalker.” (with added radio effect) from TCW tvseries (C1-C3)

  • Replaced Grievous “Ahhhhhh!” with “The negociator!” (C3 only)

  • When the firemen ships come to help Anakin, added a clone trooper’s “General Skywalker?” (with native and ressourced radio effect) from TCW tvseries (C3 only)

  • Added Palpatine’s deleted dialogue line to Anakin appointment scene (C1-C2-C3)
(You fought many battles the Jedi Council thought were lost. And… you saved my life.)

  • Added Anakin chuckling (C3 only)

  • When Anakin marches on the Jedi Temple, replaced the recycled cue with Vader’s theme variation from Joel McNeely’s “Shadows of the Empire’s Main Title” (All Channels)

  • Added a “No…” before Vader’s infamous “No!”
(well, not sure about that one… I need fresh ears)

(it’s kinda the “Clone Wars canon cut” alternate track 😄)
