Star Wars Episode III: Labyrinth Of Evil (Released) — Page 37

I like the cut from “Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?” to “Not yet.” It ties into Windu being made to appear to Anakin as truly about to execute him in the next scene, rather than arresting him.

It’s a nice line, and has plenty of meme magic behind it, but this edit is from an alternate universe, after all. Midichlorian jokes you see in things don’t compute with my edits either, y’know.

I love that edit, and borrowed it for my own. Sometimes I miss the original “I am the Senate!” line, but for the same reasons Hal mentioned, skipping the line works great in this context. Windu should be super arrogant and sure of himself, rather than hiding behind the law. Hal, you mentioned in your commentary that the non-existant ideal version of the movie would have Windu charge off to Palpatine by himself to cement this side of his character. Since we can’t do that, making him a quippy douchebag is close enough.

Not to get off topic, but I don’t know why Revenge of the Sith has the most Internet memes surrounding it out of all the films in the franchise.

I remember that was one of the planned changes in Adywan’s edit of the film before he decided to give up on the prequel trilogy. I do think it would have been an improvement.

I’m not disagreeing but why would you think would be an improvement do have Mace go on his own?

Author

Well it would remove the way palatine kills the other three Jedi within seconds while also making Mace look more arrogant.

Pretty much this.

The 1080p and DVD5 versions are now available in the usual places, with the 720p and TinyEncode versions to follow in a few days. I’ll work on getting the ‘alternate ending’ version out after that’s done.

sorry for being behind on this, but is in the ‘alternate ending’ version?

Because of the amount of poorly-written dialogue.

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

I still think Attack of the Clones takes home the award for worst dialogue in the franchise.

I’m caving into years of requests for a version in which Padme still dies. It’ll be identical to LOE up until the medical droid comes out. From there it’ll be the theatrical release, save for removing the line about ‘losing the will to live.’

I just saw the birth scene, and WOW! Angel, Snooker and Sir Ridley did such an incredible job removing the droids that I didn’t even notice it at first.

I’ve come to know something for the past two years of being a fan editor that I think many of us can agree on. Sometimes we go back to our previous edits and make minor and/or major adjustments and changes, due to our minds changing as well as our perceptions of how something plays out. It really makes me understand why George Lucas kept tinkering with the changes made to his films, as the same thing happens to how he feels about his work as we do for our work of his movies.

Oops, just updated the OP to list V6 changes.
Sir Ridley and Snooker deserve to be praised for the robot!

And yes, I understand a bit of what must go through Lucas’ head. Movies get maid over the course of a few years, and then that’s it.

Loving the changes in this version. Moving the Mace/Yoda/Obi-Wan scene in particular makes that whole section of the film feel much smoother. This just might become my go-to for Episode III from now on. Awesome job!

Well, that certainly means a lot coming from you.

While the changes to V6 of the prequels have not been unanimously well received, I think it was worthwhile to give them another go. I’m really happy with the end result. Was it worth all that it ended up figuratively costing me? Probably not, but at least I accomplished a goal. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to halfway enjoy sitting down and watching 1 through 9 of the complete Hal9000 presentation of the saga when it’s finished. Anyone can join me. I’ll bring chee-toes.

Yeah, the most important thing is that you like the new changes, almost as much as that bowl of Cheetos you’ll be munching on.

I also think the V6 has brought a lot to the tapestry of fan edits that I can see being implemented going forward for others too.

As obsessive as I can get about certain things, the reality is that I can’t be steward of this metaproject forever, and so with V6 I fully intend to set the prequels down and just let whoever wishes to take up the craft going forward cull whatever they wish from them. They’ll be my ultimates, of course, but there’ll never be an end of the line.
Even if IX ends up requiring me to go back again, say if the plot crucially involves midichlorians or something, I’d probably just reckon those as V6.1.

I can assure you that there will be no mention of midi-chlorians.
