Changing all Jedi displays to monochrome will improve things immediately. Two colors at best 😃

As for the hand yes, just crop it. There’s button pressing a few seconds later from another angle.
So the viewer would still see how the console is operated 😉

Digitally replace the hand with Luke’s dismembered hand from TESB.

I love Ady’s edits but the whine-athon of ‘‘ideas’’ while it’s being made…

Can you use deepfake technology to replace each and every Rebel extra with forum members?

Personally, I think we should all be deepfaked onto stormtroopers, then Ady should composite CG helmets back onto us so that we don’t draw to much attention.

Actually talking of voices, and from the same opening scene with the ‘ungloved hand’, the blond Imperial Officer who says “Inform the Commander that Lord Vader’s shuttle has arrived” speaks with a very noticeably American accent.

If you watch ESB and ROTJ back-to-back its actually quite jarring to hear the US accent from an Imperial officer right at the start of the film - in ESB the British accent was the voice of the Empire’s officer class and it gave the Empire a certain haughty aristocracy that worked very well.

Hardly a game changer but I think redubbing a British accent for that officer would be a nice little improvement to the movie.

Excellent point. I always thought that dub wasn’t very well done anyway. Doesn’t this dude show up later to deliver another line to Piett too?

Actually, other than Piett, are there any other officers that DO have a British accent? The “send three squads to help!” guy might be quasi British…I don’t know.

The Moff guy is also British in ROTJ, as is “Sir, we’ve lost our bridge deflector shields.” Still, some redubs would be good for ROTJ (adjusting dialogue).

Oh yeah. Moff Jerjerrod. Kind of a big role I forgot about. 😄

Lower-ranking Imperial officers were generally cast with American accents; they just didn’t really show up in ESB, so people got the idea that it had changed the rules and made all Imperials British (and glossed over the fact that the stormtroopers sounded as American as ever). In ANH the roundtable officers have British or at best mid-Atlantic accents (compare Motti’s accent to the same actor playing an American in Raiders of the Lost Ark or Who Framed Roger Rabbit), while the lower-ranking officer class (eg. “Where are you taking this… thing?”, “She’ll die before she tells you anything!”) has American accents, so there’s hardly a continuity error in retaining this guy’s accent. It’s a class thing, not a good guys/bad guys thing — leaving the prequels and sequels aside, just in this movie we have Mon Mothma, the closest thing there is to a Rebel leader, depicted speaking in practically the Queen’s English.

I didnt think British or American accents for the Imperial Officers was a continuity issue but just thought that the British accent suited them better. With that blond officer being the first proper talking role we see in ROTJ I think it might be nice to redub him as British (as SomethingStarWarsRelated said, it’s not the best line delivery as is).

Are there any American accents for Imperial / First Order Officers in Rogue One, Solo, TFA or TLJ? I’m remembering them all as being British, but could be wrong?

(We’ve also got the brilliant Richard E Grant on the way in Rise Of Skywalker, which will add another classic British accented baddie to the Imperial ranks…)

ESB gives us the classic “Skah Wahlker has jus’ landed muh Lord”
Sounds like a redneck from my neck of the woods.
I dunno if I agree with your “lower ranking” idea, but.

Also, “Captain, Lord Vader demands an update on the pursoot”

They told me they’d fixed it!

DELETED COMMENT

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

It seems that this edit has the potential to become the “Adywan’s Star Wars: Revisited” of TFA (except it’s not by Adywan), given the hard work and effort you’ve put into it.

Um…wrong thread.

As an Australian, I barely notice the contrast between the American and British accents, they just all sound equally foreign to me compared to the Aussie accents I hear everyday so I have personally never considered this a continuity error! 😊

But, as an Australian, what do you think about the clones changing accents between the movies and the animated series? 😃

Interesting you should ask that.
First of all Temuera Morrison, who plays the clones in the prequels, is not Australian. He is New Zealand born and plays them with a New Zealander accent.
On the other hand, Dee Bradley Baker, who plays the clones in the clone wars, is American but plays the clones with a fake impression of a somewhat incorrect Australian accent. This is probably what confuses many people but it never bothered me too much since I love the clone wars and the clones in it!
Although I probably would’ve liked a little more consistency between the two. I also don’t really like the idea of an American impersonating Aussies so bizarrely.

Inspired by Sir Ridley, I thought to myself, What if I projected the image of the Death Star into a proper sphere that had the correct volumes of the superlaser, the trench, and the cuts in the surface as the Death Star II?

Here is a broad test. It allows you to move the view slightly. At some point you start seeing the trick, but it could be a nice tool to get static different points of views (by reparing the image a little) or to get slight movement like Sir Ridley suggested.

Really cool! Your method allows more movement than mine which isn’t real 3D.
