I think he said he’s not doing the AOTC style plans because of Rogue One, actually, but I might be misremembering.

i´m with you.
i don´t like the prequel stuff in the OT too.

I don’t get why people are saying the battle droid head is so subtle. It’s the biggest thing in the frame. If everyone else likes it I’ll shut up, but for me it’s just distracting.

I’m partial to the battle droid head. I have an outline for a Revisited EU about how the droid got there that I started checks notes a decade ago.

It’s definitely not the biggest thing in the frame, that would easily still be R5, who is also still bright enough to draw the eye immediately. In motion you don’t even notice the battle droid unless you’re looking for it.

Holy hell… they are just soooo pretty… I can’t even… I just love the binary stars they look far more integrated and clear, and the moons! Love it.

You don’t have to shut up about any opinion you have, everyone has a right to an opinion. But as far as putting this discussion to a rest I did do a little experiment with my girlfriend (who doesn’t like/understand/care about star wars) to see what object her eye was first drawn to. I only showed her the new HD shot and she instantly pointed to the R5 or in her words “that thing”.

I would say that the only reason it draws more attention to you (and if I’m honest me too) is that you know what it is and that it didn’t used to be there. But this was the most objective way I could test this and it seems that to anyone (or at least one person) that doesn’t know its significance it isn’t.

Seeing those new images of the escape pod got me thinking about that whole hold your fire bit. I know there has been some debate about it and I don’t want to retread old ground but looking back I could see that any consensus hand been reach so here’s my idea anyway. If you don’t know there has been people that are annoyed/confused by the line “Hold you fire, there are no life signs”, when a gunner sees an escape pod leaving the Tantive IV. The issue is over why the gunner would’t just shoot it immediately instead of asking permission to shoot and why the Officer would have him hold is fire. I mean it not like it would waste ammo or something.
So what i was thinking is that instead of just the one escape pod being sent all of them leave, some of which containing people. Then the gunner can be prompted to “target the ones with life signs” leaving a couple to fall to the planet. That way they prioritize neutralizing potential witnesses rather than just not bothering to shoot the pod. This also means that there could be several empty pods that land on Tatooine giving a bit more weight to the trooper fining the right pod and again making the Empire look less slow and incompetent.
Idk if you would have to re-dub the line or extend it, if you had more than one empty pod (which you don’t have to I just feel it would be more realistic) then you would also have to edit the line later when the Officer reports to Vader about the pod. You could make wit work by having the officer’s line be changed to “several escape pods” and then Vader’s to “in AN escape pod”, but I understand that would involve changing a lot of line, so it may make more sense to keep to only one pod reaching the planet.

35 - Fixed a shot of R2 after he is captured where you see the mark of a restraining bolt before it is attached. In some previous shots it is also somewhat visible but I was unable to fix this.

Hi adywan,
You mentioned here that back when you first worked on ANH:R you were unable to fix some shots of the restraining bolt appearing on R2 before he’s captured.

Were you able to fix this now for ANH:RHD?

Love the nod to McQuarrie’s concept art in the sand-crawler shot.

Looking great as usually adywan. Really looking forward to seeing this once it is live!

Finally the Tantive is in the clamp… Well done!!!

Yeah all good looking. So far as the actual footage of R2D2 in the canyon is concerned… It is definitely on the pink side. Red is shifted out towards magenta for this whole part. Please pull it back over away from pink it looks much better being sunset color rather than pink. This and Obiwan in the canyon are affected badly with red shifting towards pink.

Can you either pull out the blue electric or insert new blue electric effect on the Jawa facing camera when he shoots R2-D2?

There is a rotoscoped in effect but it is lost in amongst the smoke which turned a blanket blue… It should be normal sort of smoke with the Blue bolt.

Great work as usual.

How about IG88’s twin head? Actually is it needed at all?

Have you seen the binary sunset shot in Krull near the end?

Just remembered on the transition from star destroyer above tattooune to long shot of escape pod… There is a small snippet of audio from the radio drama that has a harp gliss music and some wind sound effects to help pad the change of environment.

Couple of things for you…

Good color reference I think…

Idea for replacement “you came in that thing?.. You’re braver than I thought”

Good color reference also.

resize and remove weird double window frame?

Fixed color of Yavin IV (for some reason it is a sort of Jade green in the special edition instead of blue)

My final take on this one… Honestly I think the sky is just too weird.

Purple atmospehre Haze around tattooine and not blue? This is the original Matte.

Rough Example… Not saying you should change it but just wondered what it would look like.

The battle Droid head doesn’t nod at all. It’s completely unmoving.

I like the battle droid head. In a fan-made edit that isn’t trying to distance itself from the prequels, it’s a harmless easter egg that brings the prequels closer to the Original Trilogy. Sucks that the prequels couldn’t do that themselves, but it’s fine.

It’s nice commentary on where Adywan thinks the Prequels belong (a large, junk-collecting tank). I’m happy that it’s the only real prequel reference, unless there’s a skeleton of a prequel species in the rancor pit.

Yo, Ady, could you replace the Rancor with an Acklay? That would be GREAT, thanks!

Didn’t Adywan mention that he wouldn’t be taking suggestions?

The unfortunate reality of the Star Wars prequel and Disney trilogies is that they will always be around. Forever. They will never go away. It can never be undone.

I also prefer to be referred to as “TNT”, not “Freezing”.

I’m pretty sure that there isn’t a Rancor in episode IV. 😉

What about adding an acklay during the Vader v Ben saber duel ? Could be a very nice AOTC reference.
