Greetings!

It’s been months since I’ve visited the ifdb, and 'lo and behold a new cut of Sith! May I please have the Google Drive link? Many thanks!

Hi.

Likewise, could you share the link for your latest version please? I believe this will be the definitive edition of the movie by the sounds of it. Can’t wait to watch!

Thank you

Would love to see what this edit has to offer. Can I get a link?

Thank you for the hard work you put into this. Loved the YouTube clip you posted comparing the Windu Palp fight. Nice seamless choices you made which cut away all the terrible exposition but left Palps cruel smirk just before he zaps away. Could you please also send me the link to the fanedit files? Would love to be able to watch ep 3 again. Thanks!

Haha glad you like my version. That, the council scene, and the prophecy removal from the Yoda/Obi-Wan/Windu ship flight were probably the most complex edits of the whole project (not including the problematic transitions that took ages to get right). Sent you a pm!

Siliconmaster, thanks for the link. I noticed the mkv’s are encoded in mpeg-2 format? Before I download the full BR Disk ISO version, is it encoded in mpeg-2 or mpeg-4?

Mpeg-2. It’s the same video stream as the 30 GB MKV file, but in a shiny package. I did some tests and found the fine picture details seemed better with Mpeg-2,at least out of Adobe Media Encoder. H264 smoothed out a little more than I wanted for the level of quality I was aiming toward.

The 5gb and 10gb mpeg-2 rebalanced files both had highly noticeable visual artifacts and in my view were not watchable, so I downloaded the 30gb mpeg-2 which was perfect quality. After converting it to x265 10 bit 1080p got it down to 3gb and still extremely high quality. Watched it at home tonight with the kiddos and loved it!!! Seamless professional edits. Anakin is so much more relatable and the story more enjoyable. And thank the whills the Vader no got the axe. Thank you Siliconmaster, truly great job.

Hm, that’s the first I’ve heard about artifacts in the lower-bitrate files, but I also encoded those last, admittedly as an afterthought for those who wanted smaller versions. I did most of my H264 vs MPEG-2 tests on the 30 GB file, which would explain why that one looks the best. Apologies to anyone who downloaded the smaller files and thought my video quality was crap, whoops. I’ll be hosting VaderLovesU’s considerably higher-quality file alongside my own for those who are able to watch H.265 files on their AV systems - mine can’t, so I’d never seriously considered it before.

I’ve also updated the folder names on google drive, so they now reference the format and relative quality.

I’m glad you liked the edit! And it’s fun to hear that you watched it with your kids! My goal was to make a version of the movie that I would be happy to watch with friends or on my own, and it sounds like that has translated well to others’ enjoyment 😃
