What’s the difference between the two?

I just got these, so I’m not 100% sure. The International version has extra scenes from the US theatrical. The US TV version has the same alternate title sequence, but maybe not all the extra scenes.

Ok, when you do get the chance, can you let me know please?

I saw Superman III on ITV (UK) during the 80s and from what I remember and the description on IMDB and the clips I’ve seen on YouTube, it was identical to the ABC TV version.

I will try to scan both copies tomorrow for the additions listed on IMDB. I will get back to you.

Thanks, that’s very nice of you.

How is the video quality on The Shining?

Where were you in '77?

I personally think it’s excellent; very watchable. I remember seeing this on Tv for the first time; quite probably this very airing! This is probably my favorite TV Version in my collection. I love Kubrick’s films!!

I’ve read Kubrick personally supervised the edits made for the tv version. The one that airs on basic cable these days has different digital censoring in the Room 237 scene, and I’m nostalgic for the SK approved version.

Me too, I like the old edits and just the overall ‘feel’ of tv movies. I think all the edits from the ABC version are on YouTube if you wanna check em out. But I’m always up for a trade if you’d like a quality copy!

Is there any reason why these shouldn’t be freely available on the internet?

You should update your previous thread instead of starting a new one.

I apologize. I didn’t think about doing it like that. Makes more sense.

@Chewielewis:

I agree, these should be free and easily available online. I haven’t had that kind of luck though. I had to resort to buying most of these.

But, I’m not offering to sell, just to trade freely with anyone who has worthwhile stuff to offer.

I’m not sure I understand. You agree that these should be available on the internet, but you’re only offering them for trade? That’s completely contradictory. Offering things exclusively via trade has almost always been a ridiculous practice. Trading bootlegs is no more legal than file distribution.

I’m sorry you had to pay money to get these, but now you are in a position to make it a lot easier for everyone else. There’s no reason you can’t just upload them somewhere.

I take it that you guys don’t believe in trading. To each his own I suppose.

Wait: you had to purchase most of them?

What’s really annoying about that is the near certainty that whoever they are very likely obtained them for free from communities like this in the first place…

Yea man; it’s kinda crazy. But I wanted them bad enough to go that route. Just money, right? lol

Author

I’ve got the 3 DVD workprint of Apocalypse Now, if anyone wants a link just send me a PM. No trade necessary.

Author

That is awesome! Thanks for sharing.

I already have it myself, but I’m sure someone else will want that.

Author

does anyone know where to find the 80’s censored for the cbs tv version of the The Exorcist? supposedly it has alternate dialog.

Author
Time

I’m sure it did. They used to get the actors to dub alternate lines over the hard language parts, for the tv version. The copy I have of ‘The Shining’ has a lot of parts like that.

I will see if I can track down The Excorsist for you.
