Are you sure you really want to stir up that chamber pot?
I guess some people like to watch the world burn.

I actually like in indeference of the “who talks first” bit.
Re: Grevious: even the bit where Obi Wan shoots him in the lungs and they catch fire and the fire spreads to his eyes which explode? That’s so cool, man.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.
I always regarding the Obi Wan GG duel as being a cinematic refuge from a bad Steven Speilberg movie that was somehow spliced into Star Wars. I did a fanedit of RotS that totally eliminates every onscreen appearance of GG, he’s now an off screen McGuffin whose only purpose is to isolate Anakin so that Palpatine may have his evil ways with him. The much better birth of the rebellion scenes were added back in and the movie is in my opinion a vastly improved watch for the two changes.

I actually remember that part and I liked it.
yo mama joke
Where’s that?

Opening of TLJ- when Poe is stalling Hux. I don’t think it’s that bad.

Just watched it on YouTube. I dunno man. Seems real bad.
Certainly not the worst scene though.

It’s slightly disingenuous to call it a “yo mama” joke. “Yo mama” jokes have a specific structure. Poe just jokingly mentions Hux’s mother. Two different things. I mean I kinda agree that it’s weird, but also it feels in character for Poe.
I just looked it up too and thought it was pretty bad. I’ve definitely seen far worse in this franchise though.
The Person in Question
The worst part about it is when you realize he’s saying “General Hugs” and not “General Hux.”
At least that’s easy to ignore, though.
I didn’t even notice that. I mean it’s really just a bad joke, at worst. I can’t imagine it being a contender for the worst moment in all of Star Wars
The Person in Question
Agreed.
And I only noticed that when watching with subtitles on.

That’s how I am with it. It seems a bit weird in a Star Wars film, but it fits Poe. He doesn’t have a great deal of respect for authority or military procedure. His goofing on Hux, when I first saw the film, seemed exactly in character.

Anyone who says it is is just fooling themselves. You can not like it, that’s fine, but even then it’s not even close to some of the shit that has happened in these movies.
Is it really any worse than Leia saying Tarkin smells, to his face?
Where were you in '77?
Is it really any worse than Leia saying Tarkin smells, to his face?
I think the difference here is Leia using language/phrasing that is less contemporary than what Poe uses.

Is “Hugs” especially contemporary though? I’m not sure I understand.

Yeah, she doesn’t say anything anachronistic or weird. It’d be like if she told Obi-wan in her message that she’d “catch him on the flip side” or something.

^Yeah.

How is “I have an urgent message… about his mother” at all like “catch you on the flip side?”
The latter is very '70s and the mom joke and its line delivery feel very much like something someone would say in 2017.
EDIT: I can’t articulate it well, but there’s a prominent humor style these days where people say awkward, uncomfortable things that aren’t in and of themselves funny at all, but because they’re said awkwardly we’re supposed to think that they’re hilarious. I know that’s inarticulate, but hopefully someone will get what I mean.
The Person in Question
Yeah I don’t understand.
Well, whatever, the line reeks of a type of humor that I hear a lot these days. Hopefully Ash or Ray will see this because I’m curious if anyone knows what I’m talking about.
