Yep… YouTube’s content matching algorithm works very well.
Since this was a different edit than the movie, they must be using face recognition. Interesting…

Lol, sorry…
It’s not a miracle edit, but I’ll upload it on vimeo.

The sounds are entirely unfinished, as I haven’t really isolated the dialogue or completed the saber sound effects. This is a proof of concept more than anything.

I weirdly enjoy the absence of sound when Anakin gets his legs chopped off, another thing, I enjoyed this version of the duel ALOT.

Here’s my own on vimeo 😉

Again, I didn’t act on audio. It’s just to show a different cut.

This would require some fx work, but would it be possible to have Obi-Wan swing from the platform and land on the shore, Anakin then follows, but is cut down by Obi-Wan? Those floating platforms are the worst.

Also, Snooker. Great job. That flip never should have been the start of the duel. I would personally remove the choking scene, it’s too jarring (changing of sabers, Anakin no longer holding his). You could also mask the change of setting by cutting to the volcanic eruptions.

Thank you!

I feel like the choking scene is the best part of the fight, though. It would be incredibly easy to cut around, but I feel like that’s the only part of the actual fight where there’s pure, raw emotion.

It’s also one of the very few moments in any Star Wars duel where grappling happens, which, hisorically was a common part of swordfights.

The choking bit is nice but the rest of that scene is just as silly as the rest, if not moreso (running and tripping on top of a table? Great stuff George). If one cares about continuity it’s the first thing to be cut (what are they even doing there anyway?).

In my mind the best part is when the force push each other. A lot of people give it shit but I’ve always appreciated that brief moment where they’re forcing but neither is budging. So often the duels in SW are mismatched and this really emphasizes how much that is not the case here (while at the same time there’s that feeling of “these guys shouldn’t be fighting in the first place, courtesy of Williams mostly), plus I’ll take as much as I can get when it comes to bits where they use the force and not their lightsabers. I’m also the only person who doesn’t hate when they twirl their lightsabers, as I rationalize it as something like the high energy version of the Rebels Kenobi/Maul duel, where they understand each other’s fight styles so much that their mind goes through the motions of the different possible attacks before actually making contact. Of course, the whole fight was choreographed wrong, but like I said, I find ways to rationalize it.

Dooku looks on, this time in video form!

I’m incredibly happy with my roto work and compositing. Using some new techniques, such as atmospheric fog, help sell that Dooku is ‘actually there’.

It would also be cool if we saw Dooku on the council earlier in the film to help set this moment up. To see him with the other Jedi, and after them not taking Qui-Gon’s concerns seriously enough, he leaves. Though I think it still would feel a little confusing if it isn’t made clear in this film that Dooku was Qui-Gon’s master, though. Otherwise, it might be strange to end with this random guy watching Qui-Gon’s funeral. Maybe you want to leave that a mystery? I don’t know, just feels a little open-ended, possibly.

Dooku looks way to sharp in relation to the background in that close-up, but other than that, good work.

The CG planet looks gross and the ships look like plastic. Also, the flow of the scene works just fine without it.

I was afraid that it would seem too fast with the constant cutting, but I’m glad to see I’m wrong.

Are there any issues with the opening shot? Is the framing off?
