“Streaming series.” So do I assume that this will be neither on cable nor a mainstream streaming service and that I will instead have to subscribe to a whole new streaming service if I want to watch this?

Yes, it’s one of the many exclusive titles Disney is currently working on for its own streaming service.

Optimism now eclipsed by capitalist greed.

Thank you for reminding me why I want you to die, Disney.

And CBS, and Netflix, and Hulu, and Amazon…

Disney is hardly alone. Everyone is doing this now.

Disney is hoping to kill Netflix with their service. Reminds me of that comic.

Disney’s actually doing good- they have plenty of exclusive Star Wars and marvel shows in development along with originals. And there will be stuff from the past.

D.C. Universe on the other hand…

Maul- A Star Wars Story

Yeah Disney is the only one of these that has enough back catalog and resources put into originals to make it worth it.

They’re spending hundreds of millions on exclusive new series AND films.

And then there’s over 80 years of beloved content they’ve already built up over the decades.

”…a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

That’s enough for me to give it a chance. Jon Favreau and Bryce Dallas Howard are icing on the cake. I’ve enjoyed their work in the past and trust them to give this some depth. More than anything, I’m hoping it’s free of Easter eggs, call-backs, or anything Sagagenuflect.

Give me characters like Jyn, Cassian, Bohdi, Lando, Val, and Enfys and I’m a Disney streaming service subscriber.

That seems exceedingly unlikely on both counts.

Mangold was supposedly set to direct a theatrical spin-off film about Boba Fett akin to Solo, though that was never officially confirmed by Lucasfilm. If that was the case, it now looks like that’s been put on the backburner as they’ve decided to slowdown after the performance of Solo at the box office.

Sure but would that mean if Solo was a big hit then Boba Fett would be a movie and a show?

This…isn’t a Boba show.

Disney hasn’t seemed to give much of darn about most of that back catalog in recent years, outside the animated films. We should have had 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea on Blu-Ray ages ago, meanwhile some of the animated classics are on their second reissue. We don’t even have The Black Cauldron on Blu-Ray yet.
I like that TCM airs a night of vintage Disney material every few months.

Disney doesn’t seem to care about Blu-ray when it comes to their back catalog. A ton of it is already available in HD, just not on physical media. 20,000 Leagues for example is available in 1080p from iTunes, Amazon and Vudu. The same for The Black Hole actually.

They already have these transfers ready to go for their own streaming service.

They even have an HD master for Song of the South, but good luck ever getting to see that.

Source?

Also, why would they have remastered something they don’t plan to release? Archiving to avoid film damage?

I’ll just leave you guys with this…

“Get over violence, madness and death? What else is there?”

Also known as Mr. Liquid Jungle.

Loving that but I just might love this more. But no, acknowledging the Holiday Special always brings warm feelings to my heart. Whoever is in charge of these props is making deep cuts. The only way this could get any better is if they reference the original Star Tours.

I’m semi-interested in this, but I won’t be surprised if Disney ruins it.

Expensive Equipment and Potential Highly Sensitive Material Stolen From The Mandalorian Set

“According to The Blast, police are currently investigating a case involving expensive equipment stolen from the set of The Mandalorian at Manhattan Beach, California. It is believed that the camera equipment was stolen overnight. Most concerning is that a memory card containing information related to the show itself appears to be missing, and if that’s the case, then raw footage for the series could be at risk of leaking out and revealing story-related secrets.”
