Well, (I’m pretty sure) they shot this scene on location, so there really wasn’t anything back there.

It might need a sand dune in the background or something. And that sunset idea is pretty neat.

Mos Eisley in the original film didn’t really have any tall buildings or skyscrapers, so I think this approach helps sell the idea that these towns are similar.

And not necessarily related, but I think it would be interesting if this were the last scene of Destroy All Jedi.

I’ve never seen what that set looked like in real life. Interesting! In that case maybe I’m just overthinking it.

I’ve thought a lot about Destroy All Jedi (and other ideas) recently for some reason, but maybe I should just PM you about it!

I think Outbound Flight makes an excellent point about how flat the Prequels look, although I’d say that mainly applies to Coruscant. I wonder if that was just Lucas’s way of creating contrast between the pristine AotC and the war-torn RotS. Right off the bat, the floors have more complex patterns in RotS, and lots of concept art showed war taking it’s toll on the Jedi.

The battle starts too suddenly. Let the scene linger in silence everyone behind the shields for a moment.

Wouldn’t it have been interesting if Qui-Gon was revealed to be Anakin’s father in Episode 1 at the end of the movie like this?

It might even be possible with the footage available. Just cut the conversation about Anakin’s parentage with Shmi, Qui-Gon’s bewilderment about the boy, the midichlorian test. Make it so that going to Tatooine is purely Qui-Gon’s idea, and edit the dinner scene to include a meaningful glance or two between Qui-Gon and Shmi.

This would also work going forward. Anakin’s love for Padme is a mirror of his father’s secret relationship with Shmi, as well as his dream of freeing the slaves. That he can suddenly become a Force ghost at the end of ROTJ is similarly explained since his father also discovered the ability on his own and presumably after his death.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Has anyone tried to make the Jedi the ‘bad guys’ in an edit? This has always been an interest of mine, to see Anakin and Palpatine as the good guys, or at least as the lesser of two evils.
This is something that I’m toying with in my possible foreign language edit, though I’ve ripped my version of RotS in Italian rather than Japanese - thought I’d be ‘original’.

Yeah, I understand hating him - I hate him too - but for me the real problem is his dialogue rather than how he says said dialogue. Which is, I think, less bad in the Italian dub
