I’m with Duracell on this one. I can’t stand the ear and tail cropping thing. Wish our Boxers had their full tails, though that wasn’t our choice, and they have their full ears.

Oh shit I didn’t even notice that. I honestly thought he was saying dogs shouldn’t be kept on leashes 😂😂😂 lmao yeah I’m with Duracell too.

What is the rationale for lopping off the tail? I didn’t even know they did that to dogs.

I had a cousin who loved Boxers, and absolutely refused to do the ear thing.

I’m not a dog owner, but aren’t flappy ears and a wagging tail what make a dog a dog?

Anyway, just a wild guess on my part, but dobermans are often used as guard dogs, so removing most of their ears and their tails leaves a potential assailant with less to grab hold of. Still, methinks if the people-who-be want a dog with such traits, they should selectively breed those traits instead of mutilating the dogs.

To play devil’s advocate, might not the generations upon generations of selective breeding required to produce those traits while preserving the extant desirable traits, and the future inbreeding required to establish the breed, be considered equally if not more cruel as performing relatively mild procedures?
