The legends Wookiepedia page for slavery does say, “Another method was placing transmitters inside their bodies. Any attempt to escape caused the transmitter to explode, killing the slave. However, this method had the drawback of resulting in the destruction of the slave and loss of property.”

Not sure if that is just referring to the slave itself or surrounding property!

I feel like people are missing the fact that Rey is almost certainly not a slave in present day TFA.

She’s definitely a free person in TFA. What her status was as a child with Plutt is unclear. He may have put her to work doing menial tasks, until she got older and more capable of kicking his butt.

I find it curious these guys are standing guard well before there are rebel scum running loose on the Death Star. Does Tarkin have to worry about assassination attempts from his rivals? Does Vader just stand around wheezing all day when he doesn’t have people to torture?

I suppose it could simply be a honor guard befitting Tarkin’s title.

I wonder who did the FX for this ROTJ Burger King commercial? Did ILM do tv ad work back then?

The customized Falcon miniature looks really good, presuming they used the model kit.

I think there’s evidence for this theory in the original movie, but after that he was written to be much more bumbling and less crafty.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I assume that’s because he was initially written as an oily used-car salesman type character, but Lucas finally conceded to Tony Daniels’ take on things. I like Threepio. He had some nice moments in TESB too, but I think he’s gotten a raw deal ever since. Daniels seems to be doing an impression of Threepio these days, rather than just being Threepio. He was (comparatively) edgier in the first two films I think.

Not a new thought, but it’s weird how angry some fans still are about making the EU “legends,” considering how much of the new canon is extremely similar to it.

^ I agree and I don’t really understand it because the books are still on the shelves in most bookstores , it’s not like they don’t exist anymore . I think the ideal situation would be for Disney to put out direct to video /streaming animated adaptations ala the DC animated universe of that material . And being a fan of the original Marvel Star wars comic , I remember a time in the early 90s when those stories were considered an alternate universe . Did not bother me all that much , I just found ways to fit them into my personal head canon . Then of course , they decided those stories had some merit after all and incorporated them into later novels . But the new movies would have had to incorporate hundreds of stories if they had continued the books in the films and the general public would have no idea what the hell was happening .

Doesn’t matter if they’re still being published. They’re not canon, which means they’re not “real”, which means they’re not worth spit.

Fanboys are ****ing stupid.

Yeah I’ve been thinking they will likely do something somewhat similar to that - canon reworkings of classic EU stories in animated form for their streaming platform, possibly as limited series (Thrawn trilogy, Dark Empire, etc.).

yes, Duracell, the butthurt is strong with them and I suspect that their loss may be my gain as I picked up about 20 of those books from the 90s in first printings without the legends banner from my local library booksale for .75 cents each .Some of them were good and some of them , well, page turners they were not . Crystal Star being an example , though that one is not in my lot .Would be good to line a bird cage with though .

I tried reading Darth Plagueis once. A page-turner, it was not.

But it had the Legends banner. Maybe it would’ve been better without it.

I’d say anything with the name “Plagueis” in or on it has earned the Legends banner.

Would be an interesting experiment to deliberately write a bad EU novel and get it published. 😛
