Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD * — Page 31

Upon seeing those pictures, I remembered that this is a spoiler thread. I like small teaser like this, but I don’t want to have anything major spoiled, like a surprise appearance of an old character, or just the general plot. I take my best option is to leave this thread?

I don’t see any other option if you only want minor spoilers. Who could even agree unanimously on what constitutes a minor spoiler?

Example: We know Redacted Actor is back, but someone might not want to see pics of them in costume? The only workaround would be insisting people put photos behind a link every time.

I have an idea of who he is playing, but it’s a big surprise, if it turns out to be true. I think his character would be new to the franchise, but connected to the Original Trilogy. If not, then he’s just a new new character.

Who do you think?

The Skywalker Saga:
I · II · III · IV · V · VI · VII · VIII · IX
This is the way.

Wedge Antilles’ son. I’m also grasping at straws, so I seriously doubt it. But since they are bringing Lando back, among many others like Vader, Anakin, and Kenobi. If they are going for nostalgia, why not Wedge Antilles’son. If you’re trying to tie all the trilogies altogether, then why not. We have Solo’s son, I’m sure Keri Russell is somebody as well. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

A possibility

Ffs, why does everything in this trilogy have to tie back to the Originals? Anyway, leaving the thread. Enjoy your spoilers, everyone!

You do realize that was just a guess right?

If he is they’d have to keep him unnamed, as a fan service inclusion only. Otherwise it needs exposition, which leads to cringe etc etc. and then the point of casting a known actor is lost entirely. See also: endless TLJ pre release speculation.

I’m just going to put this right here. Say what you will, that has got to be her mom. I don’t care who says different, it’s all part of the deception.

Surely not, as that would be comically “take turns telling a story.”

That would be comical. With each film undermining the one that came before it.

Though it wouldn’t surprise me. Lucasfilm has proved it has no plan for Star Wars.

Every time someone is cast in a new Star Wars, everyone assumes that they are playing either an existing canon character or a character related to another character. Of all of these additions, it’s only ever been true once each (Saw and Kylo, respectively). People need to give it up.

For that to be true, TLJ would’ve had to “undermine” TFA, which is not even remotely the case.

It’s plan is to make good movies. It’s worked so far.

‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Casts Matt Smith in Key Role

From the Whoniverse, to Buckingham Palace, to a galaxy far, far away.

Sources tell Variety that “The Crown” star Matt Smith is joining “Star Wars: Episode IX,” which is currently in production in the U.K. It’s unknown at this time whether the “Doctor Who” alum will be on the side of the rebels or the evil empire.

Anyway, it would be kind of cool if Matt’s character was related to Tarkin in some way. 😉

Cue more “Rey’s Mom” speculation.

One could (many have) easily make the argument that TLJ undermined or at the very least disregarded a lot of what was set up in TFA. So what you say is not even remotely “not even remotely the case.”

It’s plan is to make good movies. It’s worked so far.

That’s a completely subjective statement. I think their output has been a very mixed bag. Also “make good movies” isn’t a very good plan when you’re making three films that should be supporting each other as a cohesive trilogy.

I can’t think of a single example.

I don’t see how they aren’t.

Undermining fan theories isn’t the same thing as undermining the preceding film.

Not if you have seen the movie.

No, not really so far (1 sort of interesting flick and three terrible ones).
