Even separating the artist from the art, I hate Singer’s superhero films. I’m sure the “superhero costumes r stoopid” mindset has always been around, but I don’t recall it infecting the movies, television, and even the comics to any great degree before Singer got his hands on the X-Men. Now superheroes gotta wear “realistic” costumes with extraneous textures & buckles & zippers & straps & plates 'cause so-called creators & so-called fans have disdain/embarrassment for the source material.

I’m not embarrassed by comics, but I do think the costumes worn by characters from those comics would look pretty stupid on the big screen. Maybe we didn’t need black leather outfits, but I’d prefer that to the yellow spandex from the old comics.

Not enough people read the EU.

YMMV, but I see nothing intrinsically stupid about these uniforms:

Admittedly, I wouldn’t mind more utilitarian boots & gloves, but the overall colours and design of the suits are just fine. Made with the right fabrics (NOT spandex) I think they’d translate to live-action quite well.

i liked when they used the uniforms in First Class.

The only thing I know about the first two X-Men movies is that they were written by Solid Snake.

I don’t even know that much. I still don’t.

I still need to play metal gear.

The trend of adapting superhero costumes to look less like the source material started with Tim Burton’s Batman.

But the Batman costume had a purpose behind it’s design. (and didn’t some of the late-'80s comics have a pure black outfit?)

Bats first got an all-black costume in the comics in the '90s.

Anyway I love the batsuit because it still embodies the comicbook feel. The costumes (and Halle Berry) are the biggest reason I can’t bring myself to rewatch X-Men and X2. I loved those movies as a kid.

I can live with it, but I still prefer the gray-with-black-trunks look.

Maybe it’s because I grew up with it, but I’ve always thought the ‘jet-black with yellow emblem/belt’ look is super cool.

I mean he’s just so darn cool!

I think the color variance of the trunks might actually work better in illustrated form though.

That line actually doesn’t bother me. I mean, it’s dumb, but it doesn’t annoy me. I just think Berry was horribly miscast as Storm and actually Storm’s character wasn’t that great in the movies anyway.

I’ve read Keaton had neck/back issues because he couldn’t actually turn his head in that.

IIRC, the Dark Knight suit was the first one with a neck that could properly turn.

I tried enabling my motherboard’s overclock settings last night as a last ditch effort to lengthen the gaming use for my desktop PC before replacing it …but doing so borked Windows 10.

I was fortunate that, after I reset the relevant BIOS settings, Windows was able to repair itself and startup properly.

Well, it’s not like we don’t have an entire sub-forum reserved for discussions about comics and movies. Someone should start a bitching thread for it.
